What did you do in your garden today?

I got a brand new, not yet assembled plastic shelving unit, like the ones they sell at HD, at an estate sale a couple weeks ago. I'm going to set it up in my office in my west facing slider door. Time to try cabbage!! and broc too!!

Two more giant, beautiful broccoli(s). The plants that I previously cut the main heads off of are creating side sprouts. The plant that keeps on giving!

looked at the sunshine but it was too cold out there still today. maybe tomorrow i will be able to be outside for a bit (or Friday, or both).

Went back out and found that the volunteer potato plants in the big pots had succumbed to the freeze the other night. Pulled 'em up and lo and behold - TATERS! I wasn't expecting much from 3 little plants but got close to a couple of pounds of some cute little fingerling type potatoes.

i got out for about an hour this afternoon hoping the ground was not frozen as i had a pile of dirt to move back to where it belonged. yes, it was still somewhat frozen under there but i broke it up anyways so at least that part of the gardens is done until next spring.

you're both right and it felt good to get that item ticked off the TODO LIST.

tomorrow i hope to get the four buckets of ashes spread and dug in and that will be another item taken care of. my brother is coming over for lunch so i have to tell him the facts and get outside right away, but he'll understand... sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. it'll give him and Mom a chance to talk about me. heehee! just kidding, but he knows i love him and we just saw him last weekend so it's not like we've been strangers recently...

No seed porn mags yet but, I'm chomping at the bit for plant starts. probably because I bought a bunch of the plant start trays at 85% off - couple months ago! I have oodles of seed and I just want a garden growing! . 26* and heavy frost says NO, not time but I'm already "done with winter"!! guess I think starts will make winter leave. Wishful!!
