I prefer less than perfect apples. If it looks to perfect it raises questions in my mind. Which results in scrubbing the outside with soft bristles brush in soapy water. Some.people say soak in vinegar followed by a good rinse but I think that's just a waste of good vinegar.

Have you ever bitten into an apple to find a worm? Well what's worse, is finding 1/2 worm.

Hmart here gets in small fuji apples every year. I'm assuming they are just too small for most of the commercial market. So unwashed and unwaxed. Price is very good. I'll cook until soft and then blend them to puree. I rather like the applesauce from them. They are also good in a pie mix with other apples because they hold their shape.

At the church in my corner, they accept anything and they sort things and divide them. I have taken 300 eggs. Other places, they have to be fda approved and washed and refrigerated. Crap, I think I only wash the eggs if boiling them. Whatever is dried up for days or weeks, is not coming out when cracked. Have not gotten sick in 4yrs of owning chickens. The veterans place, they take them once a month, no problem. My friends they know I am not worxtra for them. They need to wash them and then cook and vegetables or eggs. I already done the growing part for them as well as collecting them,😆 🤣

Do you know, in Europe eggs in stores are not refrigerated and are not allowed to be washed first by producer. Good ole FDA says producer has 30days from lay to ship...MUST wash & frig.

My grands did not have a frig. If egg need cleaning, dry wipe or if washed, use soon. 🤷 They lived into 90s, so the risk seemed minimal. Oh, drank raw milk too. Was that double jeopardy? 🤔. Well, I do same and pushing 80 real hard!! 🤣 Not worried at all.

There's a local church group who does food help, each week. I'll give them some veggies along this summer.

WA state says that you cannot wash eggs unless you have an either an egg handler's license or egg producer's license. I can't remember which does the washing without looking it up. Specific requirements for how the eggs are washed and the temperature. How actual dirty eggs can't be washed and sold as shell eggs. Those go into the same process as checked eggs to make liquid egg product.

So off farm sales, which don't require a license, aren't allowed to wash the eggs. That's everyone who has an eggs for sale sign.

I don't know how many people actually read the regulations.

Ridley's here sold a lot of small Honeycrisp for $0.68 per lb. this year. They made a nice chunky applesauce for me.
