Interesting garlic experiment!

i've been growing this same variety of garlic here in all sorts of conditions for about 20 years.

the past two years have been the worst results ever.

so i needed to make changes and try different things.

Well both report results this is my first yr, and I love garlic. So unless nothing grows, I'll be fine with whatever and improve as needed. A dozen bulbs would work & a win. I'm forgiving.

It's supposed to get down to 7 F tonight in the nearest town, so if the pattern continues it will be around -3 here. I seem to run 10 degrees cooler. I have the water running and a heater in front of the furnace so it doesn't have to work as hard to maintain the house temperature.

I brought in the starts from the greenhouse.

Poor chickees. They did fine the last time, but man it's cold out there!

I pulled out some of the bigger weeds and put straw over it a few days ago. Not sure what that's supposed to do but it seemed gardeny and I think that's what somebody said to do

I picked some collard greens and enjoyed them for dinner.

Planted a double-red (dark purple) lilac. Fed the vermiculture bin. Started work on a DIY gate.

So, we bought some peonies roots last fall and they are overwintering in the garden beds. Guess I need to start planning where I am going to place them, eh?

I am sitting here watching the rain come down, melting more of the 8-10 inches of snow we had last Wed... and slipping and sliding in the muddy mess when I went to the barn to do the little calves and the nurse cow ... and one we have been trying to graft a calf on... Got to go test a herd this afternoon. Just dreading that...I do not want to be in the barn this evening...

I thought the same @murphysranch -- I think the table is meant to be read per item. The title wording is easily misinterpreted. I'm picturing asparagus police making sure every last plot in the county is cared for.
