Friends came over and we got woodchips moved! Main garden is now covered, and it only took about a quarter of the woodchips. I think I'll plant the raspberries along what’s left of the piles.

An apple seedling I thought was dead came up from the root and a single rhubarb plant survived its first winter.

Two grape seedlings are doing great. I need to go plant the blackberries.

DS14 and I are still clearing the garden from not being used this year. We hoed and pulled crabgrass from the "done" section, and started pulling another section of tall weeds. I hope we get through it all before the ground freezes.

DS14 collected some jackhammer radish seeds to save for next year.

I ordered more seeds, and am reading a book about small-scale organic grain production.
I am so longing to get going with my garden ... we have been living in the country of New South Wales, Australia for 17 months. We have had many large trees near the house removed (recently had a scary cyclone, where more tree came down). We have had earthworks done, ready for my "tunnel". It is only myself and my hubby at home (in our 70's) and we just chip away at things as we can. My hubby is busy cleaning up after the cyclone (cutting up branches and clearing the mess). Maybe once the garden is back to normal, we can get around to demolishing the old framework of a "tunnel" and erect it in the new spot; that would be awesome!

Gardens become more important, harder to work them, as we age. But the physical part is really good for keeping our bodies going. I cheat by starting with a tractor & tiller. 😄

Yesterday was steady wind, so inside a lot. Did manage to think thru and write down a list of what I wanted to plant this year. Basics but, some seed for animal feed stuff. Have seed, just need to remind myself to plant....plus some things will need new location &/or planter beds. Planning helps.
