I hope you are able to get that rental! That sounds like it would be a great place to get started on your dreams while you wait for the perfect place to buy!
will say a little prayer for you @sumi, both for the surgery and getting the new rental place. its hard to bloom where you are planted when you know that you are just going to have pull up your roots once again.
Thanks everyone The surgery went well and I'm feeling so-so… let's just say pain meds is a goooood thing! lol I'm still waiting to hear from the agent about when we can meet with the landlord etc. Hopefully soon
My self-reliant baby step for the week is curbing Christmas gifts. DS8 is getting a repurposed item we already have. I knit a blanket for Baby. He's already using it, but I'll wrap it anyway. I'm making a scarf for DH and trying to keep it a secret. I'm also knitting a scarf for my Kinschild. I bought books for my sister's kids because they're low income, and gifts for local low-income families through a local community club. It's so heart-breaking to see those gift tags at stores in town - almost all of them are for hats, mittens, coats, snowpants, or boots. I bought as many as we could afford and just try not to look at the tags in the stores. Not very many have been taken this year. And wine - made by DH's brother - for the library staff. We're at the library 2 - 3 times per week and they're so kind and helpful
I need to write a letter to DH's family explaining no gifts and asking for please no gifts (except each grandma has a list of one item per grandkid).
Last year I tried to cut back on gifts, but I really do love giving, so I ended up buying more and more gifts. Oops. When that feeling hits this year, I will donate to Heifer International. and knit more hats and scarves to send to a neighboring state for refugee aid.
