If you ever need compost in a hurry, milk a few cows ;) At least one of them will deliver, trust me! I used to work on a dairy farm.

Easiest way for me to get some manure in a hurry is to put Misty on a trailer. Even just tying her to one normally makes her "deliver".

I celebrated the 79*F (that's hot for Ireland) today, by planting a few more beans and topping up the potato tubs. I'm considering trying peppers…. I have NO idea how they'd fare here, but I guess it's worth a try?

I'd think youd be ok depending on the peppers. My sweet and bell peppers are doing very well so far and we haven't had a single day above 80 f.

That sounds promising, thank you! I'm thinking of putting some on a windowsill in a pot or two. The kitchen window is wonderfully positioned for maximum sun and it will look nice there.

I bought 10 pounds of pork fat that I will be rendering today for frying. I already have 3 pints of lard I rendered from leaf fat that will be used for things like pie crusts (DH Loves pie).

My ghost habanaroe and spicy reds haven't exactly taken off yet though. They're healthy looking enough. Just not doing any real growing yet. They've all been in the ground the same length of time as the tomatos and Other peppers. But I just don't think it's been warm enough yet. And I think that either my cucumbers aren't getting enough afternoon light or its still too chilly as they seem to have stalled as well.

I found that peppers can take their sweet time to get going sometimes. Talking of which, I'm hoping that little "snack size" pepper I'm eyeing for dinner will have a stray seed or two in for planting. I've found a couple of seeds in them already, but didn't think to save them :(

This is the first time I've ever grown any type of pepper. Same with cucumbers. So I'm hoping I didn't get them out too early. I started the cucumbers inside in late March and put them in the ground 3 weeks ago. But by all the growth charts I should be harvesting 45 to 50 days after germination. We are going on what? 40 days now? And no vines yet.
