If DH doesn't take leftovers, he normally takes the same meal everyday - a sandwich, a salty item, a sweet item and a thermos of ice water. He prefers a lunch that can sit in his locker or car without spoiling.

Today's lunch -
peanut butter and homemade strawberry jam on homemade bread
store bought pretzels
homemade chocolate chip cookies
thermos of ice water

I love seeing what everyone is packing!
The chicken ranch wrap sounds good MsNorth....I have been eating something similar for breakfast lately :)

I think I will hard boil a couple eggs this morning for my little one to take for snack tomorrow.

The kids got:

1 baggie of popcorn (homegrown)
string cheese (daughter)
chicken breast (son)
carrots from the garden
local apple
water bottle

It seems pretty small, but they eat so little at lunchtime.

I plan to have a huge salad from our garden lettuce with last night's chicken breast cut up on top. Maybe some fresh applesauce or cut-up apples and carrots. I usually end up with a snack or two, also, like a homemade maple-walnut biscotti with tea.

My dh likes hard cooked eggs for breakfast on days he is running late. We usually have a half dozen hard cooked eggs in the fridge at all times, as they are great to add to salads and casseroles. :D

I live on this mostly. A giant fresh salad with chicken. YUMMY!
You can add so much to change the taste.

one day fresh veggies

next day I add cranberries, blueberries for a taste change

another day I add a bit of bacon bits, ham bits, etc. for a change

another day I sautee the chicken in cajun spices

etc. etc.

throw on parmesan one day
cheddar the next

so many combos and I live on it..HA HA

Thanks Dace for starting this thread! I have been making my kid's lunch since she was a tot...that is a lot of lunches! (Now she makes them, but I buy (or grow) the ingredients!)

(Most of the time she takes the leftovers but since we were gone until last night, I didn't cook.)

Today's:
sliced homegrown apple
peanut butter for the apple
cheese stick
Turkey and cheese on homemade light rye sourdough with lettuce, tomato and pickles
SS thermos of filtered well water

I have got to get that bento box, thanks for reposting the link Dace!

I LOVE to hear what everyone else is packing in their kid's lunch boxes!
