So, I was pouring a bit of heavy cream into my coffee because the milk was just polished off. I got a lot more than just a bit, I got a big glop and a bunch of goop on the counter and floor. I dumped it out, then as I was washing it out, I thought, hell, that might have been the start to something yummy! So, what did I just waste? See what this forum has done to me? Lol.

You poured out heavy cream?!?!?

:th

You could have just poured some of the over creamed stuff in to a cup with black coffee to get it where you wanted.

You could have also poured the creamy stuff over ice and made an iced latte.

I wasn't even thinking. After not being able to drink chocolate milk for years because of drinking sour chocolate milk as a kid, and still not being able to tell the difference between good or sour milk smell.. I really wasn't going to just drink it anyways without knowing. At least the container will still be put to use for soap molding, lol. Now I know for next time. Heck, I thought it might have been cheese, lol.

If this is storeboughten pasteurized (or more often, ultrapasteurized) heavy cream, it is unlikely to turn into anything you would want to be eating.

Once pasteurization (esp. ultrapasteurization) has killed off the native bacterial flora of the milk, it can get colonized by any ole thing, some of them rather unsavory both from a gastronomic standpoint *and* a health standpoint.

Really, AFAIK only raw milk "sours" or clabbers properly without your specifically adding a culture to it.

If this is raw cream then ignore the above, of course :p

we had some store bought cream that got kinda frozen (ok fine SOMEONE left it in the frozen truck!) and it was stupendous. eventually it thawed out and was just fine but i ate it with a spoon and then stirred it into my coffee.

and i got some once that was clearly butter - how crazy is that?

:)

Actually it doesn't. Fat doesn't make you fat. Carbs do.
