There is tons more that excites me about this new life, I feel like I'm alive for the first time, eyes wide open
Great description!!!

THAT, BBH, is the same feeling I've had all my life with this SS lifestyle. And that is why I shake my head in pity at the scurry and worry of my friends and co-workers. And its more than just living in the country, because they all live in the country just like me.

It has to do more with living IN the country. Just like you said....eyes wide open. Noticing how the air smells, how the colors contrast or blend, the sweet sounds, the changing of the seasons and all that come with them. You won't find me complaining much about the weather as I love the all the weather we get here.

It has to do with not caring about keeping up with the Joneses....heck, its about not even knowing or caring what the Joneses are up to!
Ditto ditto ditto! And I don't care about knowing or caring about the Joneses either, I feel for them!

Time to myself and/or time with DH makes me happy. And fresh tomatoes that I grew myself.

What a great thread....things that make me happy...smile...or just sigh.

Watching new piggies wallow in the mud, you can actually see a smile on thier faces.

Watching the lambs race across thier pasture, kicking up thier heels, when I approach.

Sitting by the garden, thinking...oh how good that will be this winter...and looking forward to the canning time.

Gathering fresh eggs, from my "hard working ladies"

Working hard, sweat dripping, hands and back aching....knowing how great a shower and my bed will feel...and sweet sleep!!!

And, just knowing, my grandparents and my mother, are looking down on me and smileing...

Hearing my grandson say, after a 4 day visit.... " that was the BEST 4 days of my life" :love

I too would rather not get jewelry or nice clothes for holidays. A few years ago, my hubby got me a Craftsman anniversary toolbox, LOADED with new craftsman tools. I was the happiest woman alive! My family and friends just shook thier heads...and gave me a pitifull look. They dont get it!

What a great gift!!!! :love Now there is a man who understands his woman! And a keeper.....well, unless he won't use the tools to help you and got you the gift so that he won't have to do any of the jobs that require tools.

Funny how we feel so similar about things on this thread.

Now, don't get me wrong....I think some rings are pretty but they would probably get really dirty, damaged or lost if I ever wore them. :p

I found a huge monkey wrench on a dirt road and I squealed! I love tools! Free ones are the best!

Now that is funny!! I asked for a toolbox for 4 years running, birthday, Christmas & anniversary. I've gotten night gowns (I sleep in a t-shirt), rings, perfume (yuck, I'll wear some essential oils but I mix them myself!) hair accessories, makeup kits (what??? When do you see me wear makeup, once a year?) :he

Then finally, this year I found a big black & decker tool box under the tree!

Turns out my dad had a long conversation with DH about how I was raised (replacement boy!) and he finally decided I wasn't joking about the toolbox. :love

One more thing...when I meet a like-minded person who just "gets" the whole SS idea. That is so motivating to me. Of course where I live, those folks are hard to come by. But I'm trying to convince a few.
