Here is a couple of bits of advice I had to discover all by myself, and they have both been proven true repeatedly over the years.....

NEVER do business with someone that can't maintain eye contact. They are lying.

NEVER second guess your dogs first impression of someone, because dogs never lie.

Wannabefree - An EX once told me "Never settle for second best" so I didn't, and he was shocked when I dumped him.. :hu
- Probably a wise move. If you think he is 2nd best- that's a good reason to not be with the person.

Skr8pn- One day while target plinking my old man said: Remember....words are just like one of these bullets. Once you pull the trigger there is no bringing them back and they can do just as much damage.
- Smart man. The world would be a better place if more people knew that.

Abifae - Heinlein makes too much sense when you think about it.

My favorite was in Dear Abby or Ann Landers. An old woman wrote in that she was looking back on her life and regretted the things she hadn't done. She wished she hadn't missed those opportunities.
- I was in high school then- and realized I wanted to be able to look back someday with a very short list of things I wish I'd done. So far-so good. I've had a weird life- but it fits me.

Hard to tell where he picked it up.

my parents gave alot of financial advice which I am sure thankful to receive.

my Mom loves to say---I sure don't mind getting old, but I want to have money and be old, not poor. I sure agree with her.

my Dad always said---if you have some money in the bank and don't live on credit, you live a good life. Again I sure agree with that lol

and I always am aware of the old "be careful what you wish for"

The best advice ever?

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Just about covered everything else in my life, so it is the best I've been given.

My social skills come from Heinlein, Lois McMaster Bujold, my dad, and the few friends patient enough to teach me.
