I like a good fruitcake 😁 :hide

haha! me too!

joking aside, i also spent a lot of time around guys that made them for sale out of their shop up north. many different kinds. they had several 55 food safe drums soaking fruits all the time. the guys i hung out with are now passed away but their monastery still goes on. i met them when they were just starting out before they had even opened up for business. eventually i determined that i was not at all religious or able to live under someone else's authority (what it would have taken to join them). glad i did not join and then later realize those things, but it was all interesting and they remained good friends even after i did not join them - i give them much credit for that and miss them to this day.

Last night was pretty much a YOYO night. Grands showed up about 6ish and noticed right off that nothing was cooking, lol. I told 'em that there is a lot of food in this house so pick something. The grands had grilled cheese and tomato basil soup. I make the soup out of jarred spaghetti sauce that I add some milk and heavy cream to. It's easy and delicious. DH had home canned taco soup. DS had cabbage sauteed in onion and bacon. DIL and myself just grazed. Nobody left hungry.

Tonight DGS is making his famous chicken and dumplings. I'll be his sous chef. He is a great cook! Oh - he made brownies last night for dessert.

Not dinner, per se, but my daughters did request apple and pumpkin for tomorrow.

I still got it. Rushed on the apple crust. ugly can still taste good
