Chili with out beans is spaghetti sauce. Just saying.
I have my dad’s chili recipe that I made all the years my kids were growing up. Basically spaghetti sauce with beans, and chili powder instead of the 7 seasonings of my dad’s spaghetti recipe. When my youngest was the last one at home, I came upon a new chili recipe, which I made, and then tweaked a few times. The 3 of us decided version #2 was the best, and that has become my new stand by recipe for probably about a decade now. (It has a lot more than just chili powder in it.)

Well last week for nostalgia’s sake (and because it was quicker and I was late starting dinner) I made my dad’s chili. And my husband commented that it was just like spaghetti sauce but with beans. 🙄

OH man - one of my best efforts tonight. Sauteed some onion/red bell pepper/garlic in olive oil and butter until soft. Threw in some frozen green peas and shrimp. Used garlic powder, black pepper, Old Bay seasoning and salt. Added some white wine and cooked it down a little then threw in some heavy cream. Nuked some broccoli and cheese sauce to go with. Would have been great served over rice or with some garlic bread - but damn carbs. It was really tasty the way it was, and we ate every bite.

sounds great to me. :) i had a very simple meal last night of warmed up tomato chunks and then i cut a dinner roll in half put some butter on it and dunked it to make a bread and tomato pudding. i really like this much more with well browned toast, but it was still ok. :)
