we are over run in an area with weeds, and moss

I think I read that a natural weed control is better ph

I don't want to apply some chemical thing for weeds because last time I did that I lost tons of little natural native spring bulbs

so is lime or ash the best way to go to sweeten
I could go get compost but I worry about just adding more seeds or maybe pesty bugs if I go get a bulk of compost at local dumping area

can I apply ash or lime anytime

and will it burn the lawn

or am I way off in thinking this might help

thanks

I'd go w/the lime. As far as I know, you can apply it at any time, and it won't burn the lawn. And the lime should help.

Ditto with the lime. Garden lime or lawn lime is great for sweetening areas that grow more moss than grass. I have one area that needs an application of lime at least every other year for grass to grow.

I apply with a seeder or fertilizer spreader, usually first thing in the spring to get the grass growing there, but anytime you have the lime and the time together should be just fine.

thank you,

I was thinking it might be lime time, (didn't intend to rhyme there sorry)
but was nervous that it might already be to late in the season,
now I know what I am doing this weekend : )
