ETA: I found this recipe online:
Homemade Spiced Rum
1 bottle decent medium-dry rum
1 vanilla bean, sliced open
1 three-inch slice orange peel, without pith
1 cinnamon stick
3 whole allspice berries
3 whole cloves
5 whole black peppercorns
1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
1 slice fresh ginger, about the size of a quarter
Combine all ingredients in a bottle and cap it. Keep it in a cool, dark place for about 3 days, shaking it once a day.
When you think it is ready (anywhere from 2 to 4 days), strain out the spices and rebottle the rum.
