I think very often things said via internet can be taken too many different ways because we don't see tone...and we keep talking instead of listening for the other person's point like you would in a true conversation. Because of this, I think everyone needs to look over their posts (and private messages) and make sure their intent is clear and the result will be positive. I use a lot of silly emoticons to try to let people know I'm teasing or whatever (y'all can tell me how well that works).
I do the same. And there have been times I've wanted to dash off a reply to something that someone has said, not necessarily on this forum, but on others, but instead, I sit back and cool down. I realize that what I read may not have been what they meant, so I'll ask, either in public or in private. And, I have been attacked on other forums. But, I made the decision a long time ago that I will not let petty minded people drive me away from a place I enjoy. (If I didn't enjoy it, that would be different, I'd just leave.) There are too many good apples to let the few bad ones spoil it for me.

I realized that some of the expressions that I use in "real life" come off a little snide or snippy because you don't hear that the tone of voice is pleasant and helpful.

Not too long ago I used the phrase "What is the point?" and did not mean it in a mean way.
However the person thought I was questioning their judgement and I only meant "Why would that be a useful choice?"

I did not think through how that tone would sound to the OP. So I'm just as guilty of this as the next person, but we all live and learn.

Yes, I think it's easy when all you have is typed words to be misunderstood as far as your intent or meaning.

I know there are people on here who do things differently from me, and believe differently. I don't have a bit of problem with that ... like someone said, I think in many cases it's the DIFFERENCES that open up new possibilities in some things. Even if you don't change your mind, you get to think about someone else's point of view.

As far as how SS someone is, I think we're all on a continuum, and moving one direction or another. That's ok too. I can learn from people in both directions.

I hated to see BB go, and I didn't know what it was about either, really. It's a shame to lose good members.

There are people who have been and are on this forum who are sweet and nice in public but send some pretty horrid PM's. You are fortunate if you have not received one. Several of us have. Ick.

And we all have our sensitive moments...I have! But for the most part, I think we have a great group here.

lupinfarm, you deleted me from FB as well, for no reason at all.....just sayin.

I have stopped posting here because not only of the personal attacks via pm, but because of the "high and mighty" attitudes of SOME, and also the way some things have gone. Some people here were banned for posting their beliefs, which is sad enough, but then to see a whole thread dedicated to those same beliefs be allowed? Nah, I don't need to be here if thats the way things are run.

I don't blame BB for leaving......

So, don't read the thread. I'm surprised anyone was banned for politely expressing their beliefs. I am unaware of this. But then, I don't read all the threads. I have seen all sorts of beliefs expressed by the regulars here. I don't agree with them all, and certainly not all agree with me. But what a boring world it would be if we were all exactly the same.
