Hi Everyone- I am new on this forum. I also am new at canning, I actually have never done it before. But, I would love to start. I was wanting to get a pressure canner, but don't know which one is best. There are so many brands on the market. Which are good, which ones to watch out for? I was liking the All American brand, but I want to hear from you all on your experiences. Thank you ! :D

I'm really fond of my Presto 23quart canner, which was a great value. And it's easy to use.

I had also looked at presto canners, I saw one on ebay and was wondering if the older ones would work too.

I have an All America, 21 quart. I like it, but I haven't had that many opportunities to use it yet. Never having used any other type I don't have any idea how it compares to others, but I like the fact that I don't need to replace rubber seals.

Welcome! Not sure where you are, but this came into my computer at 2:51 AM, and there usually isn't much activity on this forum around then. :p

I got 2 Presto 23 quart canners because I had a flat top stove at the time and they were the only ones rated for that type of stove. Now that I have a gas stove I wish for an All American and hope to one day find on on craigslist for cheap. Saw a couple in the past but didn't see the ad in time and they were both taken.

My Prestos have served me well and I can fit 20 pts or 7 qts in each so can get 40 pts done at once. I replace all the rubber parts every year since I use them fairly heavily.

We have an older Sears pressure cooker/canner, that was given to us, but we've only used it as a pressure cooker so far and it has worked well. We also have two All American canners , a 21.5 quart and a huge 41.5 quart. We use the smaller one most of the time, but the big one really comes in handy when we have a lot to can. We had an older Presto, but gave it to a friend that was just starting out canning.

I don't have one- yet- but I am looking at the All American one just so I don't have to replace the seals yearly.

I just bought a new Presto and love it. I couldn't find a used pressure canner in my area so bought new and the Presto was very reasonably priced.

I have a Mirro 22qt and it works great! I love how all you need is the weights and don't have to try and regulate the gauge yourself. it was really easy to learn to use for a beginner. I don't think it's regualted for a glass top stove but I use it on mine anyway and haven't had any problems... just takes a while to get it to steam since it heats it up slower and it's such a huge pan...

I would love to eventually get an All American canner since they have no rubber replacement parts and are made of stainless steal instead of aluminum like many of the other models are...
