Why'd the chicken cross the road?

When we first fenced in our garden it was because our pug, Joey, was ripping ripe tomatoes off the vine! Our current pug, Stan, loves them too. Two of my chickens just got through the new fence the other day and got one ripening grape tomato. I need to line the bottom of the fence with chicken wire so they can't do that. I just hope Vanessa, the flyer, doesn't figure out how to fly over!

i just cant resist answering your initial question;

it was to show the 'possum that it could be done.

or if you live in the deep south the 'dillo's, dawn and i call them arkansas speed bumps, or armor plated 'possums.
