Even with the cougar I'd still be working on the fox and any critters you've seen near by. Skunk, coon, possum and the such are not scared of people and will learn about a free meal. And once they find a way into your chickens they won't leave until there are no more chickens. Your not bass fishing never catch and release.

Sure waiting on cam pics. I was thinking opossum when you said head And guts gone..carcass left. But they aren't into covering, just walk away. Fox, almost always takes the kill to the den. Can't believe a cougar wouldn't eat it all, right then. A snack.
