I think a slow decline or the "balance" of our USD will be most likely. I am not a economics expert at all, but it seems we have dominated for a while now and a natural balance will happen. Emerging/competing economies have probably began to figure out our tactics/strategy and found ways to mimic or counter them.
The recession after 2008 was minimal for me... I know a lot of people were impacted and its compared to 1930's depression, but I was employed with no impact on my salary or job security (in fact I was getting raises). I was actually able to purchase a home at a descent price because of the drop in market prices (obviously at the expense of the previous owner)...
