Lovin' The Homestead
I found Three Cups of Tea inspiring and full insight into the culture. I have Mortenson's second book: Stones to Schools, but haven't started it yet.
Now I am reading The Dirty Life: On Farming, Food, and Love, by Kristin Kimball. Its about a city girl who marries a farmer. She was a reporter doing an interview about his organic farming methods. The first day they met, she helped him butcher a hog she was a vegetarian (up until then). That got me hooked. The book is about their adventures buying a farm, living sustainably, and starting a CSA together.
