I think wooden toys are making a comeback, as parents realize all the harmful chemicals that are in children's toys. I have always found wooden toys endearing, and would love to try my hand at wooden blocks. Would you just carve ABC's on them, or maybe small pictures?

The project is coming along well, but still need a good method for finishing the blocks (as asked above) and I have run into a new question:

I had hoped to have no metal included, but I am worried that using a simple dowel through slightly larger holes for the axles will quickly lead to the axles wearing down. My whole idea was for a toy that would last "forever." Any experienced folks have tips for making cart axles? Thanks!

You should look up

It has lots of patterns and some neat toys. The rubber band gun is easy and only takes about 45 minutes, I made one for my brother and myself. I made my sister a hummingbird puzzle from some magazine that was really quick but turned out well.
