*your hubby, who has NEVER been SS and thinks your weird, eyes the veggie scraps being tossed out at the market and asks for a huge bag of them.
We HOOKED another one!

and to add to that ...

* You find "your hubby, who has NEVER been SS and thinks your weird" ... talking to others about how much money the chickens save and how nice the eggs are, as well as extolling the virtues of a happy hen voice coming through the window. ;)

When your non-ss SO won't eat any eggs in the winter because they aren't "our" eggs.

And she admits that your soap and laundry detergent beats any that can be bought.

And your MIL loves your jams.

My hubby isn't really SS either, but the first time I brought in an egg from the back yard, he got all excited and said he wanted more chickens. This past winter, I had to buy eggs, still farm fresh, but he complained, said they weren't as good as ours.

It's a yard weed not like the banana plantain...

Here is a pic on this page of what it looks like... it's the first pic if you scroll down
http://www.clemson.edu/caah/history/FacultyPages/PamMack/lec124/weeds.html

It tastes like a bitter spinach plant or something but is great on any type of bug bite and even some rashes... Works almost instantly... pulls the poisons out so it doesn't swell as much either...

You know you are SS when

your neighbor brings you a bag of hay he swept up at the feed store in exchange for fresh greens from your yard.

your neighbor offers you the trimmings from her tree for your goats

Your neighbor asks you to help save their dog after he was poisoned

When you go to the beach, you gather seaweed for the garden

When you go to the beach, you think about how clean the water is, so you can make your own seasalt

OK, so it's the broad leaf, or common plantain, not the narrow leaf, or English plantain. We have both growing around here.

The chewed up plantain also has the extra kick from your saliva- very good for stings. The enzymes in saliva breaks down some of the venom.
