Farm Truck is out of commission:( has a steel brake line leak. I looked under there and it needs to go into the shop to have all the steel brake lines replaced, they are very rusty. That's what happens when you live in a area that salts the roads in winter :(

Yesterday I was laying underneath farmtuck on my back, looking around with a flashlight and started feeling like I was going to puke. This started several years ago, when I lay on my back in a tight space, weird and all... But I guess it's part of getting old.

Ahhh...blessed home farmed milk, cheese & eggs. I do make cream cheese with goats milk. 👍 Goat butter is good but, cow cream makes better butter. No cows here but tempting.

I believe bull & blessed thistles are similar but different. 🤔 Maybe cousins? Both a thorn in a pasture.
Could very well be... it would need to get a positive identification by Latin name by someone trained in plant species identification to be sure. Common names are just that, common to a location. Here we call it blessed thistle.

I watched a video about a guy who sprays whey on his fruit trees instead of chemical fungicides. It was a very interesting video. He has a commercial organic market for his fruit. He said he let's his customers know the fruit was sprayed with whey, incase they are lactose intolerant. He buys whey by the 250 gallon tote. The whey is free, but he has to pay for shipping and I would guess the IBC tote also.

Here, the cats & chickens are treated to the whey. Also to clabber milk, occasionally -- when I have more milk than cold storage room. That's also when I make cheese ☺️

Whey can be sprayed onto veggies, too. Spent coffee grounds help tomatoes. Manures are good fertilizers, free. Some need composting, others not. People should follow more of the "old ways" for farming. 👍

Many on here do that. The Almighty has a proven system, if we use it. Herbal meds, too. 😁

Yes... to all the above. It's a learning experience for us.

Mainly it's time vs convince thing. I mean for example... it's easier to walk into a store and buy sliced bread. That's already in a plastic package ready to eat, than it is to make your own.

That's sooo true now. Didn't used to be....no stores close or products available like today. Life is entirely different than 60 yr ago. And I say that from experience!! :old I had graduated school & working full time for a couple years. $5 an hr was decent pay  a lot of bread costs that now.

"As of January 1, 2025, the minimum wage in Illinois is $15 per hour for workers aged 18 and older, and $13 per hour for workers under 18 who work fewer than 650 hours in a calendar year."

Was 4.75 in Oregon when I graduated in '93. It's 14.70 now.

I can buy cotton T shirts for less now than I could then.
