I am going in to town tomorrow and I think I will go to Menards again. I think I remember seeing Jonathan apple trees there and those are another of the pollinators on the list you posted. If they still have some I will get one.
Thanks!
I used Stark Bros website to look for which pollinators to use. Menard's didn't offer a list. I was lucky to find that they had what Stark Bros said was the pollinators to use. Menard's didn't have the Pristine variety either.
The trees I got are also a few seasons older than the bare root...
I freeze my vegetables and meat. Gardening is something I am just learning now. I am building raised beds and making my own fill dirt for them. It has been a process but I get wood chips, and composted manure from a local farmer and I mix them. I also get other stall clean outs too. So over time...
Yesterday I went to my local Menard's and they had fruit trees on sale. After rebates they were less than $25. I picked up a Honeycrisp, Fuji, and Gala apple. A Bartlett and Kiefer pear trees. They are all standard size, and will pollinate each other. That was my mistake when I planted my last...
Well with canning done for this winter I thought I would take a picture of the canning pantry. Approximately 300 quarts of Vegetable Beef soup, French Onion soup, Chicken Soup, Pea soup, Navy Bean and Ham soup, and Chili.
It was a lot of work, but it kept me busy when it was cold and deep snow...
I am in the process of canning my last empty jars with chili. The pantry is now full. Just in time for spring and working outside. I also found some deals at Sam's Club yesterday morning on Rib Eyes, Filets and hamburger. The freezer is stocked for summer grilling season.
I have a Food Saver but not the Titanium. I am not very happy with it. It needs to cool down or something too often. If I am trying to make up bags and then put something in them and seal them I have to wait far too often. Then it seems that I have to stop it and restart it too much because it...
Well its another canning day. I just shut off the canner with the first load of the day. 14 quarts of vegetable beef soup. The picture is my canner set up.
Happy Monday everyone! I will be starting the base for another pot of vegetable beef soup today. I will can it and some chili tomorrow.
Spring time is coming so I have to get the pantry filled up soon!
I have tried ointments and injections for my arthritis. They have not worked. I am hoping to be able to afford further treatment in a few years that may help. Until that time comes I just take it one day at a time and do what I can. I am very much looking forward to the snow leaving and warmer...
