did a little work in the strawberry patch, digging up the bigger weeds (some of the dandelion roots were three inches across) and turned some of it under. much more to do but at least i got more of it done. it was pretty warm and windy and i really wasn't feeling up to it so i did what i could...
nice to be looking at the gardens all pretty much cleaned up as they will get this season (other than the north garden which always gets extra fiddling if i have time to get around to it).
with the frosts that we're getting i'm not going to do any more transplanting of the creeping thyme after...
other than those already mentioned.
for a lot of red peppers i like them roasted to just a bit of black on the edges, then hot pack in jars (leaving some headspace for expansion) and then freeze them. they keep at least for two years (i've never managed to not use them up by that time to know...
we got about half a dozen recently born bunnies running around here. hopefully the kitties will get them soon before the weather thins them out. winter will be harsh on them being this young, but a few always manage to survive and come back each year. even if i hunt a dozen of them.
i don't find much flavor in the yellow or orange ones compared to the greens (and those which turn red or other colors).
i've really enjoyed finding a milder hot pepper to grow here which does not complain about our garden soils or conditions. very productive pepper for me (Beaver Dam). the...
i love peppers of most kinds so that does sound delicious to me too! :) i'm sad that i no longer have any fresh peppers from the garden. now it is all freezer supply and supermarket fare...
i probably have enough bean seeds to plant several acres (and if not i know where to get more :) ...)
i keep saying i could keep several minions very busy... i'm not joking... :)
finished up the last of the bean gardens yesterday. it was a bit cold and windy out there but once i got moving it was fine. sun came out and warmed up a little more. done! :)
now i have the strawberry garden to weed and/or turn under, some ashes to spread and dig in. will have a steady...
the few nutrients the fish are providing will be quickly absorbed by all those plants. no harm in any of what i see there, it looks fine for an impromptu system and as long as you are happy with it that's all that matters. :)
we didn't have much rain at all for the past few months. so i'm glad it has come back in time to soften up some gardens i could barely get a shovel into - it made the past few weeks much easier on my feet and legs to not have to jump up into the air and come down on the shovel.
and a big...
we used to walk up and down the road three miles almost every day - then it got to be too much of an issue with all the dogs and Mom freaking out and also that she didn't really pay attention to where she was walking and would injure herself and then as time has gone on i've had more things...
today was warm and sunny and it was time to finish picking dry beans for a few hours. i ended up with two brown paper bags from the last two rows of the final garden outside the fence. now they are both ready enough to be put up later this week. i get a break tomorrow which will be greatly...
i played chef Pierre and had cheese, crackers and hot sauce. i hope that will be enough for the evening. i need to cut up some apples but i have zero gumption this evening and will see if i can save that until tomorrow evening.
last night was some rescued green pepper chunks on top of the stuffed pepper caserole i pulled from the freezer. a quart container of that is good for three meals so i had some more for breakfast. :)
when cleaning up yesterday's garden there were some long tapered green peppers that were...
