some years ago i planted an 8ft row of apple seeds from mixed apples that were given to us to make apple sauce. several hundred seeds all planted very closely together. it was an interesting experiment, had many that grew and some that were interesting but my original plan of planting those...
i did as mishmash of things today. there was an old ironing board that Mom wanted to set out with the trash so i started taking it apart and then realized i could use it for putting over the groundhog tunnel where it keeps coming under the fence. it hasn't used that hole in a while now that...
if there is a core that is still there and the base plate of the bulb is still ok then you may get garlic to grow from such a start, but really you will do much better getting newer cloves and planting those instead. for one you can pick bigger cloves and for two they will have more energy left...
they're pretty easy (and easier that Mom is making them). the original plan the other day was that i was doing pancakes today but this morning she volunteered to make salmon patties and i said good with me and then reminded her i was going to do pancakes, but i'd much rather have salmon...
it actually took me three to four hours (in two shifts) for the third picking - there were a lot more beans to pick this time. so nothing to complain about there for sure as i wasn't expecting much at all from these gardens as they'd been raided by the groundhog several times. i haven't even...
picked through one of the bean gardens and got an overflowing paper bag of bean pods to shell out - they were sorted and put aside in boxes and flats to finish drying off any of the dewfall that happens each night. this was the third picking and there are still more beans finishing up in there...
salmon patties today. last night it was cottage cheese and some baked beans and a few bites of tomatoes. trying to figure out breakfast at the moment and not getting far yet. :)
it was much easier yesterday for getting a garden put up. spent about a half hour weeding through it to make sure it was clear of potential seed droppers - it was in pretty good condition since i'd just been through it the past few weeks and it hadn't rained much. still a lot of thistles...
i'd love that for breakfast with a few eggs over it and done sunny side up. :) sounds very good.
we had leftovers and cinamon rolls that were going to be for breakfast but didn't make it that far. :)
then i fell asleep early and this is why i'm up before 4am. grr... lol
they've been out back at the neighbors redigging the pond, but it sure has been a lot of noise the past few days and it seems like a lot more digging going on than just the pond.
i finished getting one garden ready for .... ground is pretty hard with the lack of much rains. no worms to be found.
the next garden i'll get into will be much easier since i can actually stick my fingers into the soil in some places.
we stashed three or four quarts of cooked dry beans in the freezer and fridge last weekend. :) i love having them on hand, but that was all the room we had available. the rest of the beans i made all went into baked beans. those are now mostly given away or eaten already. which is ok.
my eldest sibling might have issues! lol during the teen years Mom and her would go at it something fierce. now we all get along fine...
when i see something dated BC to me it always means Bring Cookies and AD means After Done...
meander zone ahead...
i've actually run a manual typewriter, a mimeograph machine, a mainframe computer and an 8mm projector. we even had old home movies and a projector (wow had i forgotten about that until now :) ). i almost got into photography but gladly avoided that, instead it was a...
