What kind of Mother-in-law or Father-in-law are you?

While officially I won't be Erin's mother-in-law until tomorrow afternoon, Jon and Erin have been together for over 7 years; so we have had plenty of opportunities to work on having good relationships with them as a couple. It probably helps that we respect and care for one another, and have...

    Lorihadams-- hi guys...been busy!

:hugs Sorry to hear about Etta, Lori! Maybe it will help your son to draw a picture or tell a story about his favorite memories about Etta to help ease his grief. It is hard losing a good "pet".

Farmfresh City Homesteader - the sound of falling oaks.

How lucky that you have had a chance to clear out the garden. We have had so much rain recently (for that matter, this year) that the garden is too wet to go into yet. The garden is sad looking with the dead corn husks, dried up perennials, pepper plants, squash vines, green tomatoes, and...

I Need Advice - As in what would you do? yes, chicken related...lol...

Put your thoughts on paper and sketch out what you want the poultry yard to look like and if the breeds will be separated (for breeding purposes) or combined (as a family flock for eggs). You have plenty of land for a fenced hen house/forage yard. And maybe now would be a good time to decide...

Farmfresh City Homesteader - the sound of falling oaks.

I love a good clear out!! :D Yes, I agree a good clear out is very hard work, but when the job is done, there is such a wonderful feeling of accomplishment. When we put stuff into storage, I mark the date the box of "stuff" was stored. If we open a box, we cross of the original date and...

Great pics; thanks for sharing. It looks like JJ will be as handsome as Jett was. Congratulations on a handsome bird! Those kittens look huge compared to their size just a few weeks ago! I love the pic of your youngest son.

What would you do with a big bag of grapes?

I would freeze them until I had a really large amount of grapes to process. I know you aren't using the jelly anymore, but I found homemade grape jelly is a wonderful addition to the food baskets given away by the church at the holidays. Just a thought.... ;)

    Herbal Pain Relief

When I overstepped a few stairs and injured my back, I used peppermint oil on the pain. Not only did I get relief, I smelled great too.

I used to get hives all the time. My doctor suggested that after the first outbreak/treatment, I keep a hives journal, writing down the symptoms, areas affected, medications used (name and doseage) and how long the hives lasted after treatment began. For months after that first hives break out...
