    JUSTUSNAK...Summer coming to an end!?

There's a guy around here that raises guinea hogs and sells the piglets for $100 each. I want a pair some kinda bad!!! I just think that when the animals are smaller my kids would have a harder time slaughtering them....It would be different if we had a mean 400lb hog to kill but when they are...

    Lorihadams-- hi guys...been busy!

So, this past weekend I really screwed up my back. I don't know what did it but it was probably an accumulation of things. I told hubby that if it wasn't any better by this morning I would go to the doctor. So I did and then had to go get x-rays and possibly an MRI. We believe I have a bulging...

    Lorihadams-- hi guys...been busy!

Well, today everything is officially frozen. :barnie I had to pour water on the gate to the pasture to get the latch undone, I had to pry the chicken coop door open with a metal bar, and I definitely had to bust ice in the waterers this morning. Milking was fun, poor goat was shivering to...

    SSDreamin Blessings and curses

I know what you mean about the xmas gifts. My BF asked me what to get the kids for xmas since I made some stuff for her daughter and I told her to get them each a $5 gift card to Target and they could go crazy in the dollar bin. She was grateful cause money is tight for her too. We found a...

What did you do to save $ today?

Killed 2 deer this past weekend! Put them up ourselves so no processing fees...only the cost of freezer bags for lots of good meat! Also, bought 2 big turkeys on sale last year and put them in the deep freeze so now the one I have left is thanksgiving dinner this year :)

    Where did everyone go?

I think a lot of people are taking a break because they got their feelings hurt. It is hard when you put so many opinions into a discussion and then someone gets offended and mouths off and then someone complains and certain people just can't stay away from a topic that offends them. Just...

The problem with homeschooling in the states is that it is all state run. Every state has different requirements. I am in Virginia and have to file a Notice of Intent every year and prove with documentation that I am sufficient to teach my children. I have a bachelor's degree and used to have a...

    Deer: Baiting and Food Plots

We planted two small food plots for the deer....one in clover and one in a mixture of clover, rye grass, and chicory. I have yet to shoot one in either food plot. We know they are eating it cause there are tracks all over it and I am happy to provide them a little extra to eat, especially if...

Meat goats can be milked if need be....you may not get as much milk or a high butterfat content but you could feasibly milk a meat goat and freeze some of the milk for later. We are looking at getting some meat goats eventually because a friend of ours works with lots of ethnicities at his...

    Lorihadams-- hi guys...been busy!

I put up the deer meat that came from the 2 small deer that were killed this weekend. I got about 15 lbs of ground meat and all the tenderloins out of these. They were really small but it seems that we are overrun with does and they are all about the same size. I made up a big bunch of taco meat...

Pink Fox: its Raining...IN MY HOUSE! :/

Charlie, our lab/golden mix we rescued, stayed with us for almost 8 yrs and then went to live with a neighbor of ours when we moved. They had one of our puppies that had been given to them by another neighbor who moved to Vietnam and Harley was just crazy with boredom. We put Charlie with him...

Don't you just love it when things work out like that? I have to tell you about Dixie....bear with me. Dixie, a beautiful yellow lab, belonged to our goddaughter's mom and her ex husband. He abused the dog often. We did not know him but met her after they had split up and she had moved back in...
