Squee!

it all worked out.
this afternoon i drove to south jackson to meet Troopers new family!

they fell in love at first sight and hes gone off to his new home.

Hes going to be living as a house dog, with 1 1/2 6ft chainlink fenced acres to run around crazy on, hes got a boston terrier as a playmate (yup, they color match! lol) and 3 rough and tough young ladies to spoil him rotten. his new mommy is lovely and his new daddy is a great guy and a disabled Veteran!
there hoping to teach trooper how to pick things up/fetch things to help his daddy out around the house :)

aparently daddy isnt realy an animal person...not that he doesnt like them, just that hes never been the one to want one, or ever say "Hey lets get a dog"

but when he saw troopers picture he aparently said "thats the one...thats my dog!" and they knew it had to be. aparently he didnt shut up all morning, asking his wife when they were going to go pick up HIS puppy lol.

im so happy this worked out...got home and dozer is already back to his normal crazy self...running round playing with toys again somehting he didnt do last night or this morning. i know i made the right choice :)

i also picked up some shelving supplies while at walmart so im hoping tomorrow i can put them up and finnish unpacking the living room boxes :)

i also picked up the sunday paper, so yay coupons

I know the feeling, I want one too! But, I just don't have the time right now that I'd need to focus on training one properly. I may have to wait until we move from here, and I don't know when that will be. :(

Don't you just love it when things work out like that? I have to tell you about Dixie....bear with me.

Dixie, a beautiful yellow lab, belonged to our goddaughter's mom and her ex husband. He abused the dog often. We did not know him but met her after they had split up and she had moved back in with her parents. The first time we went to the house we saw Dixie and the horrible conditions she was kept in. Two days later my husband drove the truck to her house and took her. He called her and left a message saying that he had the dog and no, he was not giving her back. She was kept in a 4x6ft pen with no water and no food (they fed her when they had scraps to give her and watered her when they remembered she was out there) and had burns from laying in her own urine. She was covered in fleas and filth. She was a totally different color when we gave her a bath. We had one black lab puppy at home and another yellow lab/golden retriever mix puppy that we had rescued about a month before. Did I mention we lived in a 2bed apartment over a horse barn?

She was very aggressive towards men so I was pretty much hands off. Hubby did all the feeding and grooming of her to re-establish trust in males. She turned into a great dog. She had a litter of 9 puppies the February after we got her and then we decided that we needed to see about rehoming her. We took her to the lake to visit my grandparents and my cousin R was weed eating around the road. Dixie ran up to him and laid at his feet, rolled over and exposed her belly, and wagged her tail furiously. This is a dog that was very leary towards new men and she had never met R before. We just stood their with our mouths hanging open.

He gasped, covered his mouth, and said "queenie?"

Come to find out, he just had to put his yellow lab female queenie down from cancer the month before. She looked so much like her that he just couldn't believe it. He took Dixie home that afternoon for a trial run over the weekend and never looked back. She is now very happy and lives 2 doors down from my Granny's new house. That was around 9 yrs ago. Gotta love happy endings :D

they know how to find us dont they :)
i swear there isnt a dog in my life who hasnt come for a reason, whether its a short temporary stay to help them find the right place or perminecy..

i always joke that dodger the long haired chihuhua (lives with my parents) is actually my grandfather reincarnated lol. (he was born the day my grandfather died)

it always makes my heart melt a little when i see or hear of special dogs who find their perfect people! im glad dixie found hers!

******

todays plan involves building shelves/book cases! mabe i can get these last few boxes out of the livingroom! SQUEE!
and once the bills are paid for the month, i have my paint color picked out for the livingroom...
its slowly feeling like home, but the white walls and empty fishtank are sending me into a slow insanity lol, cant fill the tank untill the walls are painted...
i figure if i keep telling myself that it will avoid any trips to the store to "look" at fish lol, but i have a contact with a local angelfish breeder who im hoping will be able to sell me a pair of beautifu sub adult koi angels :) (breeder stock is much hardier than shipped store stock :p)

paint first foxy, paint first!
gonna need 2 gals of the wall color and a gal of semi gloss white, because the flat blue trim needs to go and my fishtank stand needs a facelift.

oh well time to get building i think :D

Charlie, our lab/golden mix we rescued, stayed with us for almost 8 yrs and then went to live with a neighbor of ours when we moved. They had one of our puppies that had been given to them by another neighbor who moved to Vietnam and Harley was just crazy with boredom. We put Charlie with him to see how he would do and it was just like magic. He is doing well and we still see him occasionally. He went to a good home with kids and a trampoline....that dog loved to jump on the trampoline

For some reason, I read that as paint foxy first, and thought you were getting ready to paint yourself!

lol it wouldnt be the first time. i have a tendency to paint in my underware becuse i typically get it all over myself in the process, much easier to shower off if you dont have paint covered clothes to strip off first lol

my livingroom is actually comming together nicely.

i bought some of the modular closetmaid units...
i was origionally looking for a little bench but the space behind the front door wasnt wide enough...this modular stuff proved to be absolutly perfect for my needs, i bought a shoe unit, a upright cube shelf unit and a 2 draw unit. put em together, figured out the layout and it looks realy good.
so ive now got room for about 6 pairs of shoes and my work boots on the shoe rack and bottom cubby, ruby dog got her own draw for all her clothes...yes...you read that right.
jasper got 1/2 a drawer for his and the other half the draw has a coat for dozer to grow into and all my extra collars and leashes
ive got a cubby for my purse and a cubby thats currently got my pc games and Cd's in it.

the wall above it will eventually become my photo gallery but right now mum and dad and our family picture is on the top of it, they both need new frames .

then i put up the shelf under my fishtank...i have an old sofa table as a fish tank stand so its a lot of space under it but nothing to put there...unfortunatly its a very odd size and shape so i couldnt find anything to fit and having a board cut would cost me double buying a finnihsed shelf.
so i bought a 36" premade shelf and some brakets and just walmounted it in the space.
Itll look even better when i repaint the fishtank stand white, but right now i dont care, my wii is unpacked as are my DVD's and everythings semi organized under there, the dogs toy basket fits on there too now meaning less things on my floor.

the basket that was housing all the dogs clothes (and doing a terirble job as it was over flowing, now houses the old newspapers for jacks cage and will eventually be put in a slight less discrete place (probably the floor between my chair and the cage)

theres officially no moving boxes in my livingroom! SQUEE!

then while i was on a roll i put up a shelf in the kitchen!
i have a microwave and a monster of a toaster oven, and a serious lack of counter space...
so up untill today my toaster oven has been living on the floor and ive been using the big oven for even the tiniest things...i wanted to put the microwave out of the way but still easily acessable, and theres a space between the fridge and the back door that wasnt doing anything special...
in comes a shelf, microwave now has a home...
toaster oven took microwaves space on the counter, and now i dont have to heat a huge oven to bake a couple of rolls lol.

id like to get a couple more shelves for in the kitchen to finnish off that space, its wasted space right now but i think 2 more shelves 1 with a couple of baskets on to hold my cuttlry and such, and a second shelf for some decorative stuff, but at about $12 a shelf itll have to wait a little, its the brakets that cost a little more so...

but yeah...im alot hapier right now. got some clean up to do and ruby REALY needs a bath, so does jasper, so i think thats this afternoons to do list, ill give the dogs their baths first, so theyve got plenty of time to dry off before bed, then its mostly a case of putting things away and taking the trash out...i dont know HOW i have so much trash...oh wait...yes i do...puppy care LOL!

but yeah, loving that little bit of an accomplished feeling!

well, last night sucked muchly.

one of rubies pups is a MAJOR squeeker and for the life of me i cant figure out why, she starts squeeking i make sure she has a nipple, she still squeeks i make sure shes warm enough ect.
last night i just sat with her in my hand for a few mins and she settled right down...shes not even a week old, gah.
but ruby has a tendency to try and burry her pups (not in a bad way in a ill climb under the blankies with you kinda way) she means well but the pups tend to get tangled in the blanket or end up on the bottom of the box which is plastic and they are still suseptable to chill, so every time one gets realy squeeky i HAVE to check on them to make sure there still all nice and cozy and noones been burried or seperated from the group ect...
EVERY 2 hours last night.

then aroudn 4:30 Dozer work up, upset tummy, probably from his shot on saturday (its known to do that and thats why i typicaly dont give any shots untill 8 weeks, systmes more capable of handling it...but he was a 'high risk' given i dont know his mothers histroy and i didnt want to risk parvo...so 4:30 to a rather stinky crate and puppy. cleaned up what i could in an exhausted daze, threw a clean blanket over his bed which was yicky and tried to get some sleep...
ruby then decided she NEEDED to go out and needed to go out now...
given shes claning up after the pupies at this stage shes got a delicate stomach and cleaning up after dozer in the confines of a crate was bad enough...so let her out, she took forever...finally climbed back in bed at about 5:15am, and at 6:30 am Dozer started crying...6:30 seems to be his up time, so took him out to pee and poop real quick, and ruby joined us again...did nothing but i think she just wanted to make sure...back in bed about 15 mins later, the dozer squeeking starts...i roll over and try to get back to sleep, 7:30 rolls around and theres ruby shes pushed her way out of the playpen i have the whelping box set up in and was sitting staring at me and bopping me on the head to wake up...this activity also woke dozer who was now absoluty certain this meant he NEEDED to be awake and everyone else on the street neededto be too...
so i said screw it and got up...
jasper was NOT happy with this...its NOT up time and gave me the look to match the sentiment...
but we all whent outside anyway, where jasper proceeded to stage an early morning protest and refuse to poop.

jasper is a little bit of a potty problem child...if i dont stay out untill he poops essentially waiting him out, hell come right back in and poop on the floor, typically the bathroom or bedroom...since this is not acceptable behaviour i wait him out in the mornings...we stay out untill he does something...and usually that works, he wants his breakfast which is inside so he hurres up and does everything he needs to...this morning, we were out there for 45 mins before hed go poop.

im tired, and im not properly awake at that point so i was grumpy and just wanted to beat him with a stick (not that i ever would of course lol)

so yeah, today is going to be super fun!
im tired...
dozers bedding is currently in the sink to be hand washed, he needs a bath as soon as im awake enough to do dishes and wash his bedding so i have a sink in which to give him a bath...

i did manage to get everyone fed and had a bannanna in hopes of a little food going a long way...not so muhc so im thinking the coffee pot needs to go on this morning.

and i think later, if the rain holds out for me im going to throw on my work clothes and boots and gloves and go start shifting some of the cinder blocks over by the fally down shed (i found out yesterday theres an old couch in there too...*blink blink* im pretty sure the junk in the shed is the only thing holding it up LOL, i wish it ere in better condition, or semi salvagable because its the perfect size for both a chicken coop and a starter shed for my goats (its actually 2 smal sheds side by side) but i thinkthe only things holding it together is the combination of crap inside and the vines and shrubbery growing up the outside.
and i might make a machettee attempt at some of the brush under the oak trees because theres another used to be a shed back there that might have some salvagable wood to use for my raised beds at the very least.
mabe some outside work away from the dogs and out in the fresh air for a few hours would be good for me in my tired stupor.

but first, dishes and hand washing to do.

why not just put them in the washingmachine you might ask...
well 1: i still need a connector for the hot water (have the cold, just not the hot) and 2: im not running it unless ive got a full load and right now i dont so hand washing it is.

the good news is, while its a little damp today the temperatures have been perfect no heater weather for the past few days...i hope this holds out, the less i have to use the heat, the better...
i also hope my utilitiy bills come in soon so i can get an idea of what thats going to cost me...
not worried about the water, but the gas and electric...those are my concern ones.

apaently when im lacking sleep i have roblems with getting sidetracked...

the good news is however i sorted my coupons, put them all in exell and whent thorough the walgreens, tarket, walmart and kroger flyers and made a list of the best deals so far...
will wait on the new walmart and the 3 local flyers before doing a grocery trip...but despite it not being on my to do list, i got something accomplished.
now, to get dozers bed washed, do dishes, and get him cleaned up...
hes not quite himself today, probably shot reaction, hes sleepy and quite happily pending time in his playpen...will make the most and get things done.

off i go...

*must not get re-sidetracked*
