I got the Meyer catalog and I am thinking of getting a trio of silver laced polish, a buff orpington, a dominique, a welsummer, BLRW, a delaware and an EE. My kids got to pick out some that they wanted and I wanted the welsummer and ee for some different egg colors. My daughter likes the buff...
I think that if you stay involved and give the children opportunities to discover what they are interested in and good at in a loving healthy environment then homeschooling is great.
I also think that public school curricula is too segmented. Separating things into different subject areas just...
I don't name anyone either. It made it easier that the first 12 we had to butcher came to us about 2-3 weeks before butchering so we didn't really have time to get attached.
We are expecting our first official planned litter any day now. We lost 2 litters over xmas because we didn't know the...
two more runner eggs this morning!!! Both were lighter blue this morning so I know I have 2 girls out of the 3 that are laying at least but they all might be laying, who knows? I made pancakes with the duck eggs this morning and they were soooooooo good!
Still no bunny babies yet...she has...
The only thing about putting does together is that you will have to eventually separate them when they are pregnant and due to kindle.
Then you also need to plan for grow out pens until they are big enough to butcher/sell. You may even have to figure on separating them even further into boy...
We just got into meat rabbits and the guy we got them from suggested using a tack hammer to whack them in the back of the head. I just couldn't do that in front of my children (age 4 and 6). They have both been hunting with us before and have seen us shoot a deer and have also seen us cut the...
I got a wonderful surprise this morning.....TWO DUCK EGGS from the new girls!!!!! I'm so excited cause I didn't think they would lay for another month at least but I have somebody laying! One egg looked almost black and the other was a blackish blue. First eggs are often darker...they'll lighten...

First find out what your landlord will accept and then you will know...
I have a friend that just worked out a deal with a local big grocery store that also prepares food for a cafeteria style area. He is planning on getting pigs in the spring so he went in and asked the manager if they had any produce that he could get every week for his compost heap and they said...
You'll need an extra pen for a grow out pen for the babies too...(yes, i'm an enabler)
We have hay for our goats that is an orchard grass/alfalfa/ clover mix at $5/square bale and the bunnies get anything that the goats waste from the feeder. I plan on giving mine fresh clover too but I didn't...
oh...here's something that will work too...switch to all white towels. Sounds obvious but if it keeps happening then that may be a better option. :hide
No sign of the coyote since the first sighting and everyone is well. Aliana is bred and we are going to the breeder to deliver her some hay on Friday and pick her back up. I miss my girl!
I trimmed hooves yesterday and gave everyone a good brushing. The bunnies are doing well for now and I'm...
