well, i got up this morning, checked around, no shiney red shoes sticking out from under the front slab, no small people welcoming me to munchkin land...
the 6 hole hutch didnt like the wind...managed to pull all the shingles off (they wernt exactly flat so....) and push it onto its back.
suprisingly the whole unit did however stay together in the fall and is now back upright (dang its heavy lol) but im ging to have to set up wind braces so that doesnt happen again, especially when the buns are IN it.
other than that though, nothing to report.
todays plan.
change the battery in the co2 detector its bip-ing at me annoyingly.
figure out the wind braces for the hutches.
make the fronts for the bottom 3
another coat of paint inside and a couple coats of paint outside
re-shingle the roof
Glad most everything was untouched. We got some BAD gusts last night, and a couple big limbs fell out of one of the oaks here beside the house. Nothing hurt really though. It got scary for a second
i definatly think we missed the worst of it up here, and the guy who sold the place did some trimming before he sold so i didnt have to worry about that too much.
managed to get the 6 hole re-leveled, reshingled, final coat of paint inside the bottom 3 holes, cut the braces and the frames cut
now im eating soup
once lunch is done its time to get the fronts put together, cage wire on, then paint them, then paint the outside a second coat on the frames and install the locking mechanisms and itll be "ready" im still debating between hidey house or shelf.
well the 6 hole is fronted painted and strutted lol.
i decided since this bank is going to be small breeds that while ive got fully removable fronts on them im adding smaller wire doors for ease of acess...im making the doors big enough that i can reach every corner, and get a bun out no problem...i figure this way if i just need to feed grab a bun ect i can open up 1 small door (better when ihave litters running riot too lol) and when i need to do a deep clean i can just pop off the front and climb right in lol.
im happy wiht how these came out but man it soaked up the paint... about 3/4 a gal of pink and about 1 1/4 gallons of the white...that stuff is thirtsy wood lol.
tomorrow im planning on getting the doors finalized (i have the wire cut for the doors, just need to attatch and cut the hole), and sort the hidey houses. also hoping to get the next bank started while the weather cooperates.
so yeah, heres what it looks like right now...you can see the small acss door on the upper left.
*blush* thank you thank you...
its in no way "perfect" the frames are not quite square or the actual hutch isnt quite square, theres a few things that once you get upclose you think...hmmm yeah...lol. BUT its fairly sturdy and plenty of room and im pretty dang proud.
i also realized tomorrow is the day to attempt to palpate the buns...
ive palated dogs and cats but never a bunny so this will be interesting lol.
