Most of the things that I enjoy doing just happen to be free for the most part. I like birdwatching, hiking, gardening, reading, camping, star-gazing, playing cards, crafting, etc... Most of these things can be done for free or a very low cost. It's not that I'm worried about spending my money...
Even when I was in college, a more globalized work-force was being touted. We were being taught that with advances in technology, it was inevitable that business would become globalized.
I was just reading this recipe yesterday, and I remembered that someone had been asking about it. You make a lavender extract by placing 1/4 cup dried lavender in 1 cup vodka and allow it to steep for at least 2 weeks. Dilute 1/4 cup of the lavender extract with 3 cups of water and put in a...
Honestly, I have been using my homemade soap and soap scraps to make laundry detergent, so I don't know much about any of these soaps. The action of the clothes being agitated in the water gets them very clean in itself, so I see the laundry soap as just being a little extra help for tough dirt.
:gig That's funny. Were you just up here visiting, or did you live here? We had a nice, warm 4th this year, but last year was awful. We decided to have a 4th party, invited a bunch of people over and cooked a bunch of food...and it was freezing cold and rained all day long. Wasn't much of a...
I'm sorry, I wish I could send some of our rain your way! I had some family up visiting from near Tucson, AZ over the 4th and we were talking about gardening. She said they would go broke trying to garden there because they would have to water so much. They were happy to be here for the 4th...
This is my first time growing them. What do you plan to do with yours? Are they good for canning or more of the type you would eat fresh? I'm hoping to can or freeze them because with as many as there are there's no way we'll be able to eat them all fresh.
Well, July is winding down to an end. It has been a hot, humid, and rainy month. The garden has grown so much in the past couple weeks! (Compared to pics a bit down on page 12 )
Here's a front view of the garden:
And the back...pardon the weeds. We need to try that lasagna gardening...
We have some plastic lettuce containers that we saved from buying lettuce in the past that we use, and we store the lettuce in the crisper drawer. I like this terry cloth sack idea though, and you're right, it definately sounds easy enough to make.
I have been using a pillow case to dry my greens and herbs. You just put the lettuce in the case and swing it around over your head. Is this sack the same idea? I probably looked odd standing in my front yard swining a pillow case around over my head, but it did an excellent job of drying the...
I love star-gazing too Dawn. We live in town though, so it can be difficult. Thanks for the link though, maybe we'll have to go out to the inlaws Friday night (they live out in the country) to see the show.
They have them in the freezer of the organic/health food section at my local grocery store. They have sprouted corn tortillas and sprouted whole wheat tortillas. I suppose you don't have to use sprouted grain tortillas, I just like to.
