I have raw goats milk that I bought to make some chevre. It has been frozen and now I am getting ready to use it.
I met a lady in the cheese shop who makes cheese and buys her milk from the same source (crazy Ellie). She says the milk is fantastic, but she does heat it up to 140* for safety...
Free hit it right on the money....get hubby involved!
My hubs caught himself a little mini stalker once. He was selling some old computers from his company....people ( from CL) came to the house and picked thru what they wanted.
Some lady took a liking to him and started emailing him....a lot...
Such a fun dilemma huh?
Heheheheee :weee
Today white beans ar on my canning agenda. Gosh I have not canned in two summers :hide. I am feeling a little nervous, but I am sure it will be fine.
Ugh.
Searching for recipes I read that 40 lbs of tomatoes turns into 8 pints of sauce :th
Where am I going to get 40 lbs of tomatoes?
If I put these 6lbs in the freezer, won't they keep until I accumulate more?
Or I can just make up a test mini batch as Tanks suggested to test out the recipe.
Thanks guys :)
I guess I will search up a few pizza sauce recipes...at least those can be canned in smaller jars.
I don't want to eat them because to be honest they are a little banged up AND I have some beauties form my CSA that take center stage as fresh eating!
I went to the farmers market and boldly asked for a deal on seconds and a couple vendors were kind enough to indulge me :weee
I got 6 lbs of maters for $6 vs the $15 it would have cost.
I also got 3 lbs of fat little pickling cukes for $3 instead of $6 (which will make 3 jars of refrigerator...
So do you think one inch of headspace in enough?
Any ideas how long and at what pressure? My book says 10lbs for 90 mins for a quarts....but with the bacon do I need to up that
I wonder if this recipe can be canned.
Ingredients are-
4 slices bacon (one inch pieces, cooked)
3 1/2 c chopped onion ( saut in bacon fat)
2 cloves garlic, minced
4 15oz cans white beans drained (I am using dry and dehydrating them)
1 1/2 c root beer (cane syrup type not corn syrup)
3 Tbs...

Ok ladies, you got my nerve up. I'll grab a large reusable bag and hit the farmers market at about 12:30. There is another one that is a short drive away....wonder if it is worth attempting two. I'll check their times.
As always y'all are a wealth of information.
KC...sorry I cleaned you...
