Well, onward and upward is the news of the day round here. Rather than reading the news today, I think I'll cruise around and see if I can find any good deals on CL to resell...

Other than that, word of the day is HOT.

I don't tend to be a gloom and doomer but do you ever just look around and wonder what planet you woke up on?
Almost every day. :/
My most frequent comment on the state of society is that people in general really seem to have their priorities WAY out of whack.

I've been reading about now on the internet. Sounds like it is a hot debate in San Fran! People are getting very angry about it in their comments to the news stories.

Sold another item on CL today. He's coming to pick it up this evening when MyT Man gets home from work.

He also said he heard teenage crowing from the backyard... I've for sure got 3 roos and a couple that are suspect.

In other news, I'm bidding on a nutrimill :fl. It just went up for auction this morning so I've got to wait until next weekend. I've bid on several mills over the last few months but haven't been super serious because if I got one, didn't have time to play with it much. I'll have more time the beginning of next month...

I'm also itching to DO something. Fun. Social. Community. Outside my box...

So here are my ideas that I want to choose from. Taking a banjo class, taking some classes at the range and possibly exploring competitive shooting, or a weaving class. I used to cross stitch all the time just to give my hands something to do but I'm not really interested in that anymore after seeing some of the other fiber arts in the gallery.

So weaving really has me inspired after looking at this piece by Dobree Adams day in and day out for the last month. My mom also used to have a flock and spin her wool but I never saw her weave.

Competitive shooting would satisfy my very competitive nature and I haven't competed in anything for awhile. Plus it would be social and fun.

Banjo would be fun. I've always had this idea that I would take up fiddle but after hearing ICU's comments about everyone smiling when they hear banjo, and knowing how much I like the sound, it seems like it would be fun. I had piano lessons as a kid and never appreciated it and now I would like to get back to music. I can't sing and you can't lug a piano around to picnics with you.

So, those are my thoughts and musings of the day.
Totally totally get it!!!
I would love to learn to fiddle. I want to learn to spin! And I really wish I had time to get into archery. I took a short certification course in college and taught at a day camp for two summers. Haven't done anything like that until Cub Scout camp last summer when I got to shoot a few arrows. Loved it!!! And I need to expand my cheese making! I need 9 days in a week..... and a winning lottery ticket.

I took archery as my P.E. requirement in college. I really liked it, but I haven't had the opportunity to do it since.

As for weaving, a coworker recently bought a loom and has been weaving hand-dyed yarn. It looks so cool in the pics he brings to work - I wish I had time to do more of that kind of thing.

Good-bye to Homer :hit.

Homer was MyT Man's 1981 red Chevy LUV. He had 325k miles on it and died last summer. We had gone back and forth on what to do with him and finally sold him today to a young guy who is going to restore it. It is the end of an era in our lives.

Homer was MyT Man's first vehicle and endured being driven by a 17 year old teenager. Later he was taken from OR to WI for graduate school and then back to OR again. Then he went from OR to KY.

I was introduced to Homer when I was invited to church the 3rd week of college. I was far from home and had no vehicle. I had walked to one church and it was one of those "for show" churches where the ladies wore diamonds and furs. Little miss cowgirl from Montana definitely didn't belong. I told the Big Guy that he would have to find me a church, find me a ride or I wasn't going to be going to church that year.

My very second time meeting MyT Man he looked right at me and said "You're coming to church with me this Sunday." Yes sir. So Homer was there in the beginning taking us to church. After MyT Man dropped me off at my dorm, he apparently was so excited, he forgot to latch the tailgate and his wheelchair popped out when he was turning a corner through the busiest intersection in town. Needless to say, that stopped traffic!

Later, I was allowed to drive Homer ALL BY MYSELF! to the big city of Lexington. It was a love hate relationship. I loved Homer's owner and loved having transportation but hated that little red truck that could only go 60 miles an hour.

Then there was the time we were headed to a wedding about a month later, were introduced to Kentucky red clay, hitchhiked 20 miles back to town, met a harmonic player who took us home, and then helped MyT Man get unstuck the next day. We missed the wedding but started planning our own.

After we were married, Homer carried us and a trailer in a convoy down to Birmingham, AL. After 18 months, it was time to hit the road again so we loaded up everything and pulled a trailer from Birmingham, AL to Spokane, WA. We camped the whole way except for 2 nights. It took us 11 days. Then life settled into a routine for about 5 or so years and Homer took MyT Man faithfully back and forth to work and occasionally on a picnic or other small adventure.

Finally we were ready to hit the road again. This time from Spokane, WA back to Lexington, KY close to where it all started. In Lexington, Homer started showing his age. He was becoming less reliable and eventually needed a new engine. Even with his heart transplant, he was getting more feeble. Finally, he just couldn't go anymore. MyT Man and his dad, who had flown out from OR, were headed to a family reunion in MO. Homer was just not up to the trip and quietly whispered that he just couldn't go on another mile.

Not having the heart to condemn him to the scrap heap, we let him rest in our driveway until the perfect situation could be found. Enter Kevin, a young man with the tools and time to tinker and looking for a challenge. So hopefully Homer is on to greener pastures and will travel many more miles down the road someday.

Even though it was a love hate relationship, I'm gonna miss the little guy.

Glad he at least went to someone who will love him still.
I have an Uncle Homer. Seriously, and he's bald too! Much better manners though, and much smarter Mr. Simpson!
