The bullock brothers farm has folks paying to work on their farm. And folks are lining up. And I've met these folks: hard workers that love the experience at the farm. Usually they have saved up for the first summer, and sometimes they get other jobs to continue living/working there.
I just now...
I've had a lot of people asking me to push this up to youtube, and .... presto! Whining pays!
This is a pole structure with a thick earthen roof. Under construction.
This is a design by the popular eco building author Mike Oehler. And it is on Mike's land - it will be his latest creation...
Imagine having a digester at your home that might be able to provide heat, cooking fuel and/or fuel for your car. All from your ... uh ... compostables. :)
Oh, sure, biodiesel is cool - but this would be even better since you don't have to go all over town looking for ingredients. Nor do...
Hot off the press!
This video is a response to three different requests from people:
1) "I didn't see how the roof was built in the rumford video" - this video has footage immediately after that, the structure is similar and there is a lot more of looking at it.
2) I have a lot of cedar, what...
I just uploaded this. I think this is a rather simple, elegant and cheap (!!) design for a solar food dryer.

Thanks!
I think no place is perfect. I think this is one of those things where the upsides outweigh the downsides. And, if nothing else, I feel I learned a lot of stuff that I had never knew was out there to be learned!
I just finished pushing these two videos up to youtube.
The last cob house is the biggest and the total cost was $10,000. And was designed with the idea that anybody can build their own home.
