Spring is always a bad time to buy hay. Farmers usually only have their undesirable hay left and many times the new hay isn't baled yet. Not to mention first cutting is usually crappy hay anyway. So you end up paying big prices for bad hay. I would see if a farmer would be willing to store hay...
You can always tube feed her the colostrum if you have a feeding tube. Also could try using a syringe but be careful so it doesn't go down into her lungs.
Thanks for the regimen.
I would post on BYH and see what they say. I really don't know. I would say definitely Alpine is in there but not sure if full blooded or not. As shaggy as Dorian is, I wouldn't be surprised if there is some Togg in there. I hear Togg's are the hairiest. My Alpine never...
Oh how awful! I guess I have nothing to complain about. I have certain areas that get flooded but they actually aren't anywhere that truly matters. The goats just can't go out in the field but they have plenty of room under the barn overhang.
So what was the regimen and doses that Roll Farm gave you? I would like to keep that on hand in case I need it or decide that next year that would be a good thing to do.
If the buckling is old enough, why not band him and sell him as a wether? They really do seem to sell much quicker as wethers.
Good luck on your kiddings. I'm glad I'm done. It was one heck of year for me.
Hey, did you report the stolen hoes to the police? If they are used for a crime and your name is on it, they will probably come looking for you. Then you have a police report on record so they don't think you committed the crime.
So sorry about your bees. Also, sometimes we have to decide to hold off on stuff so I can certainly understand holding off on the animals. I'm just glad we are getting some sun today. I finally got my chicken coop cleaned today.
18 gauge is the easiest to get Ivomec out with but you can use 20 gauge. I prefer 18 gauge for the thick stuff and 20 gauge for everything else. I order all my needles and syringes at PBS Livestock.
I don't know how it is in Canada but you can't practice any type of veterinary care without a veterinary license. I recently heard about someone who was given a cease and desist letter from the government because she was disbudding goat kids for other people. I can't believe that that is even...
My alpaca vet is a "stay at home mom" of sorts. She broke off from the vet she worked for and now works out of her truck. She is only willing to travel a certain mileage from home. She brings the kids with her if necessary. She does have a woman from her church that does babysit a couple days a...
$200 is certainly a cheap price for the 2 goats. But you really have to think about if it would be easy to sell her offspring in the future. If you have a lot of homesteaders in your area that would love to have a cheap goat, then probably no problem. But if you have people that want to show 4H...
