I have the glass pyrex ones that you could watch the whole process... the bubbles under the base and when it was hot enough that the water would go all the way up the glass tube to hit the top of the "basket" that the coffee grounds are in.
Sadly, someone will throw them out when I die.....
Went to work at 3 a.m. started snowing at the farm about 8 or so... left there a bit after 10 a.m. 20 miles south they had ground covered, 20 miles further south at home we had over 3 inches... it came from the south west, heading east/slightly north. There was over 6-8 inches on the ground...
Skiff of snow here yesterday, some ice on top, then warmed a bit, and rain off and on. Had some rain last Thursday... iced really hard, and was slick... then warmed enough for just rain... melted ice.. Then sun for about 2 hours, then rain again overnight... CRAZY... had about 2-2 1/2 inches...
Until you have cattle and feeding in conditions that are difficult, it is not a good idea to make too many suggestions on setting things up differently. There are ways to do some rotational bale grazing with electric... but we have so much deer problems here, it just does not work. Every...
I gotta be the "contrary one".....:hide:hide I would much rather see colder temps, frozen ground, and snow, than rain... I hate the cold rain in the winter... The snow can be pushed out of the way and if the ground is cold and hard, it is alot easier to get around to feed and the animals do...
Me too... Last year I bought a battery riding mower... did not want to deal with the gas, oil, spark plug, carb... and wanted QUIETER... Bought a Greenworks... ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT.... granted, can't go in the rougher woods much, like an ATV or UTV... but it pulls the cart great... and the lawn...
Had a skiff of snow before daylight, then sprinkles... Temps hit 50 this afternoon and the precious 5 inches snow and 1/2 inch ice are melting... Had really hoped for more rain to get it all melted down. Now there is a forecast of 1-3 inches snow possible for tomorrow... yet they are still...
We had about 5" snow a week ago with another 1/2 inch ice on top... not as bad as @CrealCritter . Then we got another 2 inches this past Fri night/Sat morning. Temps in the teens nights, then low 40's days, some melting... but plunged down to 19 last night and only 36 today with the wind...
@The Porch ... you can tell who is laying now unless they have just molted and no one is laying... The space between the 2 pelvic bones ... or pins some people call them... the 2 bones alongside the vent... for most larg breeds...1- 2 fingers between is not laying... 3 fingers between...
Warmed up for 2 days... was 55 overnight, up to 57, rained last night into mid afternoon this afternoon... but it got really WINDY.....has been gusty all afternoon and evening... and temps are down to 28 already...
Checked the rain gauge when I got home from work... 1.2 inches so far... Should...
Hi and welcome from Va... @Thewhippoorwhil, Please go to your name top right, down to account details, down to location and put in a general location... we don't need details to your house :hide:th:gigbut a state or area helps us to get a feel for what things you face... how the crops are...
Must be a great neighbor to be pollinating your garden/orchard/ flowers for "free"... any chance of getting some "local" ... literally .... honey too????
Yes @CrealCritter that is the one I got. Like so much stuff, when they first came out, they were more expensive... And I managed to find 2 within a month that were new in box on e-bay... the first one for right around $300.... then the second one was someone who obviously bought it and didn't...
My food saver titanium will seal 16" bags also... and it is a heavy one too... Aside from having to put the bag in farther to seal, I have been fairly happy with it... They cost over $400 new, got this one for less than 300... and then came across a 2nd one a couple weeks later for a little...
We have had several nights in the teens... Mon-Tues-Wed were 17, 16 and 15 .... days in the upper 30's and very low 40's but the wind chill had it around the freezing mark. Wed night/Thursday morning only got down to 31, warmed up to 44 on recording thermometer but the wind was biting... I wear...
