I am very suprised to see that Ohio is NOT on the list! It seems like the economy has been bad around here for a long time!
It is definetly getting worse around here! We have several highly qualified men in our church that can not find a job, let alone a job that pays them what they are worth. Several of them lost GOOD jobs, then took jobs that they were over qualified for just to have that job lay off too!! My DH falls in the category of taking a job that pays half of what he used to make just so he has a job! We are just praying he does not get laid off. Work is just so slow.

Colorado isn't doing so great. Not as bad as others, but this is the worst I have seen things since I moved here in 82.

NC isn't great either that I can see.
houses sure aren't moving. houses have stopped here. people are not buying point blank and that goes for everything than just houses.
everyone holding wallets close! heck, ya gotta.

That is a huge problem about work also. Higher qualified people getting lower jobs. It wipes out the other person's chance. and down the line it trickles......

Business in NC is still closing its doors. The amt. of little shops that are gone is amazing. You drive by thinking "how can they stay open" and a week later you drive by and Yup--they are closed, empty and gone.

We will tank again....and big too.

i'm really surprised Ohio isnt on the list either.. wow. well i guess that's good news???

i saw some of the stimulus money at work recently tho. they closed, and completely ripped down, my favorite highway rest stop. but no worries, they are rebuilding it from the ground up. i guess that will keep 'em busy for a while? but couldnt they just build another one somewhere else?? its a long stretch along that I-70 these days.....

Not on there either, but not surprising. Mississippi usually lags behind, both in getting INTO bad shape & getting back to normal. Plus our economy isn't usually defined as booming in normal times.

Things were getting very nerve wracking for those 6-7 weeks of rain in my industry. No contractors could work, no roofers, no concrete, landscapers. Nobody felt like remodeling their homes & doing their own lawnwork. When those businesses have a lack of projects, we get hit hard. We were doing days with $ amounts less than 1/8 of what our average day is. Folks who normally would be working 9am to 8 or 9 pm would be leaving at 2... scary.

Washington state isn't on there yet either, but with Boeing layoffs . . . and who knows, more Microsoft layoffs?, we could get there pretty quick. We usually lag here too . . . get hit after things typically start to recover elsewhere. Not exactly seeing that recovery though, are ya?

If the official numbers are saying 10% of US workers are laid off . . . I wonder how many are truly not working. Usually it is higher than the reported numbers. :/

YES--Illinois is number TWO on this list!!!! :rant

We in the "rest" of the state would prefer it if the city of Chicago would secede from the rest of the state. (My sincere apologies to anybody on this forum who lives there. Have you considered moving?) THEY are the biggest financial drain on the state. Just ten years ago the city was telling everybody that they couldn't figure out where to spend their surplus. Maybe they should buy artwork?...maybe another building project? THIS is why the state has financial problems!!!! There are NUMEROUS stories every year of resource theft--it's no mystery to US why Illinois is almost top of THIS LIST! :rant

Yeah, what is with the whole, "we better spend the surplus" line of thinking? I mean, do the officials who make these decisions run their houses that way? I guess so. :/
