I know! I hear you.

they want us to spend to help the economy.....well when all those extended unemployment benefits run out.......wait to you see the extra freeze on spending. economy is going to tank big time.

and why spend to help right now.....cause for me, I say save your own life right now in the hardest time. I need not to spend to be sure I can survive....and if I don't take care of myself, I know some Congressman ain't coming to my house and paying my bills for me!

well when all those extended unemployment benefits run out.
yep. so many people are just hanging on by a thread... when the unemployment goes its going to be shocking to many. even those not directly affected. the good news is that they extended it again..so now its up to almost two years (i think 99 weeks?)

the other hard thing is that the banks are cutting off credit limits and cards... so anyone who was using one to pay their bills....yikes.

i missed a cc payment by about 5 days (the balance was like $100 or something so the payment was $10) and i got a collection call! and they wanted me to pay a $10 fee to pay right then!

so of course i called the bank immediately and asked/told them to waive the fee and i'd pay the balance right then. which they did. but are you kidding me??

yikes.

The problem is that if you don't spend, you won't have a job, and if you don't have a job, you can't take care of yourself. Kind of a vicious circle, yes, but you don't exist in a vaccuum. Jobs require manufacturers; manufacturers require consumers.

I am seeing more establishments with "No Credit Cards Accepted" signs on the doors and on gas pumps.
5% discount for cash on certain days is another sign.

One of Ohio's largest employers is The Cleveland Clinic who has entire floors dedicated to care of Saudis. If it weren't for the Clinic and Progressive Insurance -Ohio would be on that list.

I don't know what the answer is. I do know that if everyone decided to hoard their cash, this country as we know it would fail. There would be no jobs for anyone. Good thing most people are spendthrifts!

yea I still spend but nothing like I used too. I put the breaks on hard for "stuff"---but I gotta spend for groceries, gas etc.

I said before, alot of the little stores here are closing. All those little luxury service stores that tried to hold on and on, well they lost customers and can't make it so they close.

we have tons of those small strip malls down Hwy 16 that are 1/2 empty with lease signs on them.

but I can't save everyone. I want to, but can't---:/

oh and when I watch tv and catch some shows like those Housewives spending $65,000 on a diamond ring or a $15K tennis braclet, then I figure a few are still funding the country and money is no object. Alot of people still spend and they are so lucky they can!! I don't begrudge them their finances, I just know they need to spread more around than me...

Well . . . I think we all need to consider WHAT we are spending money on. I don't think we should spend willy nilly. I think we should be voting with our dollars even more than ever! JMO. :)

And some of us . . . if we want a big ticket item . . . just have to save up for it. :/

you are right Drake

where the hard earned cash goes is so important--very true

and yes voting with dollars --I like that. Money talks in this country doesn't it?
