Hmmm... I might have to bring a cooler when I come to Our Great Capital. Does this guy sell to the public or are you getting a special deal, 2dream? Thats actually a decent price, especially when you consider the feed & your labor costs.

We have yet another event happening this weekend, family reunion with DH folks. BUT its in Jackson, so I'll get to go shopping & meet you (if you'll be around, that is!) Yay!

noobie - I don't know how I missed your post. When is your reunion?
The rabbit guy will sell to anyone I guess. He offered to sell to me, and he did not know me from Adams house cat so bring that cooler. Let me know how many you want and I will let him know when you will need them so he will have it ready.

On another topic. I have been mostly reading post lately and not doing a lot of posting. I think this website might be of interest to a lot of people here. Well - of interest if you like to read online. Someone spent a lot of time putting this together and if you like to read the Bible here it is all on one page.

Here is a great Bible reference search site if you are looking for something and you can only remember parts of it.

It is good to hear from you, 2dream! How are things your way? We are definitely heading into autumn here - in the 40s and 50s at night and in the early morning. Definitely sweater weather! :D Thankfully, we're still in the mid 70s during the day.

Thanks for those links! Here is one I use a great deal -

Its cool, 2dream, it was on the 5th, so I missed you. BUT! We are planning to have another trip when I get my overtime check in. This past weekend I worked my company's show in Shreveport, LA and got tons! Wheeee! Got some more good news on the financial side of things too.

I got your PM after I had left for the day, so we missed each other, but you've got my number & I've got yours. We'll get to meet one day. Hopefully soon :D

I'll take 3-4 at that price. I'll give you a call when we head that way. Not this weekend as I'm planning to sleep like the dead and try to cut some grass, but maybe next.

Great links, I'm fond of blueletterbible.org

Kel, things are busy as usual. Seems like it is always something.
Now that I only have 1 rabbit left I am in the process of revamping my rabbit housing situation. The guy I am going to get my rabbits from was very understanding when I told him it would be a few more weeks before I was able to get the rabbits I told him I wanted.

I have been greatly interested in herbal remedies and growing my own herbs for a while now. Been doing a lot of reading and have been unable to find enough information all in one place to give me the confidence I need to get started. Seems all the supplies are never in one place not to mention paying shipping to 40 different places or you have to order in quantities that are just unrealistic for "lets try this just once to see how it turns out". Finally after much reading, online and in the books I paid a small fortune for. I ran across a website called learningherbs.com. They had a small kit on sale which contains bottles, beeswax, tins for balms, the herbs you need along with a video with very explicit directions. Being somewhat leary, I ordered it anyway. I said what the heck, I have already spent more than that in time reading online and purchasing books that always left me with a few more questions.
It arrived yesterday in the mail. I will let you know how my concoctions turn out.

Since this post has noting to do with being self sufficient I decided to post in my journal. Anybody read about the new law passed and signed by Obama that requires more graphic warning on cigarette packages?

Not that I think cigarettes are safe even though I smoke. I am just extremely concerned about the government interference into a legitiment business. How can the government demand and pass a law that says a legally operating business must place these graphic warnings and images on a product? Who is paying for this? Is there a single solitary smoker out there who does not know that smoking is bad for you? What next? Will GM, Ford, etc be required paint graphic images of fatal car accidents on the side of each vehicle and you will be forced to drive around with those pictures on the side of your car. After all we don't want anyone to forget that driving is not safe. Look how many people are killed each year by cars.
Considering the news of Mattel being given a pass on the new independent test for lead in their products maybe we can force them to add graphic pictures of lead poisoned children to their products.
I guess my rant on this is mostly - What next? We all know there will be a next. Maybe we should start some type of pool and whoever guesses what the NEXT thing is can get a dozen eggs painted with graphic pictures of clogged arteries.

They are already working on a soda tax. While I do think sugar and high fructose corn syrup are a big problem, I have no confidence any money taken from these items will actually do anything other than line some politician's pocket.

Golly, its been a minute or two since I have posted to my journal.

I guess because not much going on other than the normal work, work and more work.

My chickens have got to where they don't want to go inside at night. I wish you all could see me chasing chickens out of trees.
DH calls me the chicken wrangler. Going to keep the shut up for a while since they have gotten so head strong about going back in the coop.

No new rabbits yet. :barnie Can''t seem to get my cage finished.

I hate this time change. Its gonna kill me.

I hear you on the time change thing.

Any reason they don't want to be inside of the coop? Mites or rodents scaring them?

Very interesting development. After I posted a little while ago. DH went to check the mail. Guess what he found in the mail box.

A fresh kill chicken foot.
Back a few months ago I posted about my new neighbors and their dogs. Well there have been several things happen over the last few months. Everything that happens around here gets blamed on us. As a refresher, we were accused of shooting one of their dogs that was found on the highway hit by a car. They called the law and showed them pictures of the dog. The deputy laughed and told them that if we shot the dog we used a bazooka. Well as wonderful as it would be to own a bazooka unfortunatly we don't. Several weeks later another of their dogs was being chased by their youngest child. After almost 2 hours of him chasing that dog (very large bull dog that has growled and charged us several times) he finally cornered the dog and grabbed him by the collar. The dog sat back on his haunches and snapped at the little boy. DH hollered and fired a shot in the air. Told the boy to quit chasing the dog. (Note: my chickens were in the yard and they had run through our yard 40 times scattering chickens and the dog had been under my rabbit cages trying to get into them). Any way they called the law and accused us of shooting at the little boy. We explained what happened to the deputy and he went back and told them to keep their dog at home and that we did not shoot at the boy. DH fired a shot in the air because he thought the dog was going to bite the kid. And he would do it again. Well they never kept the dogs at home so we ask animal control to set traps. Which they did. After they had to pay animal control several times to get their dogs out of doggy jail they finally got rid of the big bull dog. Several months later both of their weiner dogs disappeared. We never knew what happened. We assumed that the oldest one died as it did not look well. But since we don't speak we did not ask and nothing was ever said. Then we found out that another neighbor one street over also had a dog come up missing. She told us that our neighbors told her we poisoned the dogs. I looked at her and said, Charla, you really don't think we did that do you. She said no - that she knew better and told them so. She even told them that we might have shot the dogs but no way we put out poison. To many animals of our own to do that. Plus we would never had made a secret of it.
A couple of weeks ago, one of their boys shot my DH with a pellet gun. We called the sheriffs dept and them came out and talked to the boys. Then yesterday the youngest boy had company, he and his little friends were running around the neighborhood. One of my other neighbors called me and ask me what those boys were doing around my chicken house. I went out and did not see anything but the boys in the road. Then standing at the kitchen sink I saw one of the boys walk up to my mail box and open it. Now I know what he was doing. DH had been motorcycle riding and drove up just as I was walking down the driveway and the boys scattered. I did not give it much thought until DH brought the chicken foot in and we realized it was fresh. Apparently when I check my chickens tomorrow I will have a hen missing. Nothing I can do about it now. But I think they have declared war. I also have a very good feeling if they did not like me previously they will like me even less from now own.
