I have been thinking a lot about the ss lifestyle and what is the goal I am trying to achieve.
Pass me a paddle and I'll row for awhile as I'm in the same boat! I feel like our places progress has regressed from baby steps to beyond being able to crawl, but I know that the heat and drought isn't helping anything (especially my attitude). ;)

Wishing you the best! :hugs

I would say that many of us are in the same boat, so I'll paddle for awhile too. While we always had a garden growing up, I never did anything w/it but weed it. I was never taught how to plant or harvest, how to cook, etc. For me, it's a learn as you go as well.

The best advice I can give is to start small. Make a plan w/both short and long term goals on it. Figure out what works for you and what doesn't. If something isn't working, then ask yourself if there's something you can do to make it work, or if you'd be better doing something else.

I think for many people they make the mistake of trying to do more than they can right at the start rather than getting into it gradually. Then, when it doesn't all come together, they get discouraged and quit. There's nothing wrong w/baby steps while you're getting everything figured out.

I've read about people doing it, I just think my Miss Kitty is contrary enough to not cooperate with me on it

Good luck! My BIL did that with one of their cats and started to make some pretty decent progress. My sister just couldn't handle it though and they went back to litter boxes. :(

I just finished reading your journal after you made a comment in mine. Seems like we have quite a bit in common--the military, grown children, same area of the country, just getting into the swing of SS things (though you have a good head start on me!) Looking forward to continuing to read about your progress. And I LOVE your RIR's from a few pages back--sorta hoping you have some to sell when I'm ready for more chickens. They make my feed store production ones look quite sad in comparison but they got me started!! :hu
