bread is only "too much" work around here, because I have the stupid breadmachine in a cupboard behind the dogs crate, its just a pain in the rear to get it out and find a spot for it.. :p

Auntie Em, Auntie Em!!!

Actually, yes, believe it or not. My DGD and I were watching the storm, and suddenly the leaves and small twigs in the yard got picked up in what we found out later were 60 miles per hour winds. The rose bushes snapped back and forth, and some A-PVC A-frames hit the dirt. The funnel was about 8' across. When it started twisting, that's when the back fence flipped and flopped back and forth, but THOSE A frames stayed upright. Go figure! It took out four or five of my broccoli and brussels sprouts plants, and then hit the front fence, tore it out in a couple of sections, one of which spun around in the air and landed at an angle. Pretty exciting. A couple of pictures on my blog, linked below.

About the bread -- I am on my third loaf this week. And it's only Tuesday! My parents and my daughter's family love my latest obsession !

Wouldn't it have been nice if my foccacia had lasted long enough for me to snap a photo? LOL

I made the dough in the bread machine, let it rise, patted it out on my baking stone, dimpled it, sprinkled with lemon scented olive oil, coarse salt and crushed rosemary. Popped it in the oven and that's when the twister hit that took out my fence. Instead of 25 minutes, it went for an hour. It was beautifully golden, the edges were crunchy but not inedible, and best of all it was FAB-you-luss.

All this bread is going to do me in....what a way to go !

Wow that was something! So glad no one was injured!! I thought you all weren't supposed to get wind devils out there in the left coast.

Year before last my daughter's house was caught in some straight line winds/twister.

She lost her fence, and got some trees torn up and her roof. When the wind went tearing along it went right through a fast food area and over a highway near her house. The twister went right over a McDonalds, a Hardees and a couple of other restaurants, then it totally eliminated an Arbys while leaving the Taco Bell standing right beside it. My daughter got the tail end of that little wind. They said winds were in excess of 111-135 mph!

Eat some of that good wheat bread for me will you. Sometimes I really miss the stuff.
