Great stacking job on that wall too! That soil looks good and dark, so your roses should thrive there. I'm loving the before and after pics...those are my favorite kind. :clap

Can you make a rake?
No, but I am getting one soon. I need it! The dead grass is mostly loose on top of the soil, so a good rake over the rest of the yard should take care of a lot of the mess there :fl

Thank goodness the sun is shining and it's gorgeous outside today. Perfect day for gardening :) I need to get more firewood and I want to clean the soil for the future rose garden. There is a lot of bits of rubble, stones and other messes still in there. I also want to make sure I got all the stones out of there..

I went to Aldi this afternoon to do some grocery shopping and then this happened:

They are both pale pink, it's all they had, but at e9.00 each I'm not too fussy ;)

Me too, FEM! I was thinking of going over that patch again today to make sure I got all the stones out, but I burned my finger hard on the wood burner last night and it's raining. I do want to buy at least one more rose before I start planting them out. I'm going to look for the wild roses here that I love so much. They are crazy thorny, but they are beautiful (pink or pale purple) and smell absolutely amazing. I want one next to the stone wall.

Ooooh! Purple would be pretty with your pink bushes. And the wild ones do seem to smell the best. Do you have any aloe for your finger? I'm so sorry. Burns HURT! I hope you're feeling better soon!

A surprising find in the backyard yesterday. DS (11) is over the moon :) We saw it laying half overgrown and thought it is a piece of farming equipment of some description, so I was VERY surprised when DS and two friends lifted it upright yesterday and we saw what it really was. We're going to fix and paint it next week, weather allowing.

The sticks to the right and front are the remains of the pile of branches I cut into logs for the fire. I'm trying to cut the rest of the useable sticks into starter wood, but the rain keeps chasing me back inside. The planks I discovered nearly buried and lifted it out so it can dry and get picked clean of bugs by the chickens, before I see if it's worth cutting for burning too.
