thanks
The tomatoes are dying. I think the heat and poor planning is to blame. but we will get a few more before it is over. squash are done. melons are not quite ripe yet. the garden is winding down it seems.....except for the cucumbers and okra.

I'm looking forward to fall. I hope to have a lot of black eyed peas in the ground by Aug 15th. I will start them inside soon. hopefully by mid Sept we will have everything else sowed. but that's going to require a lot of work.

well it's been a semi productive day around here. the wife is canning apple sauce, blanching green beans for freezing, and working on canning some tomatoes. I hauled about 15 more wheel borrows of wood chips to the garden and pulled out the last of the green beans.

still need to pull the remaining squash plants, harvest okra and cucumbers......and haul about 300 more loads of wood chips.

in other news some of our pullets have started to lay. we have been getting a few tiny eggs everyday. another sexlink went broody. this time we marked her eggs so they don't get mixed up with the others and she can get it out of her system. we have a couple cockerals and a couple bunnies in need of a retreat to freezer camp as well....oh and it's time to mow again. we will see how much of that gets accomplished tomorrow

The entire rear of my chicken run is completely overgrown with tall weeds. the chickens love it. it's a good source of shade in these hot Texas days.
