Neither does mine, but the running to and from helps!

I sent them in a little white puffy envelope.....gee...I hope it didn't get lost! It went out on Friday....
I'm sure if I ran all the way to and from OH I would definitely eat a brownie!

No, this was a box. Maybe the soap will come today! :)

oh, and turkey eggs take 28 days. :barnie Don't they know how impatient I am?!

Ouch....

I'd make sure the room is nice and steamy before opening the incubator. As soon as one hatches, though, I wouldn't open it at all and let those little chicks turn the turkey eggs for you!

I've been MIA lately! I haven't been on much at work, been busy. By the time I get home I'm WAY too busy. Things have been plodding along though!

I have had 7 chicks hatch so far, and there was one more pip this morning. I'm feeling like this is going to be a poor hatch rate, since I had 30 eggs in there. I'm not sure how many are left, because I did remove a few that weren't viable. I'll have to recount when I get home. The turkey eggs are still in the bator...they're due in 8 days!

Kids are growing well! June is thin, so I've been working hard to put weight on her. She did this last year as well. She's eating a ton, and I bought some corn oil to add some fat to her diet. That's in addition to 16% dairy ration, alfalfa pellets (which she will eat, but doesn't love them), BOSS, and good hay. I just don't have time to find a source of veggies to feed her, but she gets our scraps. Hmm..maybe I'll call our grocery store real quick and see if they can give me the "wasted" veggies.

I'm getting 10 new pullets on Saturday. I just renewed our state's egg packing license. I was looking at the info that has to go on the carton to be "legal" and it's ridiculous. Did you know they have to be labeled as Eggs or else people might be too stupid to realize what's in the carton. And I'm going to have to raise my egg prices, which bums me out. Feed has gone up. Last May it was $7.80 per bag and now it's $10.05 per bag. That's a big jump.

Oh, and my new focus (well, not really new, but renewed) is on getting in shape and shedding some excess weight. I think an ideal for my personal body would be 20-25 lbs lighter. I know I can do it, it's just the commitment it takes to exercise every day is just too much. I have so much other crap to do, and I always let exercise be the thing to get pushed out. I really want to be successful at this, so I'm going to push to stick with it. I've started walking in the evenings, and eating like I should be eating.

HA! I've given up on the weight by now. Cushion for the pushin is how I like to think of it!

7 chicks is better than 0, just think of it that way. I'm going to candle my eggs tonight or tomorrow and see how they're looking. Today is day 8...... Sigh....

So....any BIG PLANS coming up??? I know something BIG is happening on Thursday....

Cushion for the pushin
*snort* I mis-read that as cushion for the pushPIN and wondered what the heck you are into Glen

I'm on the 'lose 10 pounds' bandwagon too. Such a sedentary, depressing winter and all I did was eat :he And so it goes. My jeans are tight, but at least I didn't go up a size. Now it's back to some discipline!

 Well, I wouldn't mind a little cushion, but my pants are tight! And I cleaned out my dresser drawers and found some jeans I used to fit into. :hit Plus summer is coming up and extra weight is extra hot. I hate summers sometimes! (all the time really)

Yes, something BIG is happening on Thursday!!! I enter another decade. :ep Hehe. I think we'll wait for the weekend to celebrate probably. :D The kids will be at their mom's then.

I hope your eggs are fertile, Glen! Hopefully shipping didn't jostle the ones I sent too much!

I sometimes wish my husband was more involved with the animals, because I don't have anyone to bounce ideas off of!

I'm picking up pullets on Saturday. They're ~18 week old Red Stars, and my friend is charging me $7 for each. Well, I told him I wanted 10, so in case I wanted to sell a few I could. I was thinking of keeping 6. Now I'm not sure if I want to keep more or not. Is 6 extra pullets enough? Some of my hens don't produce as much as these will... Then I found a guy on CL who wants to buy pullets, and i was thinking I could buy a few extra and sell him 6 for $10 each, and I have to drive an hour each way to pick the pullets up. I think a started pullet is worth at least $10. Or should I quit trying to make a little money on the side and just buy what I need?

I just ran around in circles reading that! :p

It's all in what matters to you. If you have the time and it won't cost you $9 in gas to get the 6 extra hens to sell to the other guy, do it.

If these pullets will increase your egg production I'd buy as many as you can.....stuff happens so you'll need some egg room (get it, egg room as in leg room! :gig )
