Ah! Cat foot warmers! We have some of those in the dog variety.

In my oldest sons room we have cat foot warmers though. They are the best!

hehe SD Rio takes up way too much room!
I just saw where Florida was the only state with no snow.... even Hawaii had snow on a volcano top! Temps in the 20s and 30s without snow? We've been robbed!

Today was one of those where I left the house at 930 and only stopped back long enough to change clothes for work at 430.

I had my 3rd session of Physical therapy on my knee - go back to the ortho doc tomorrow to see if he wants to do an MRI. Today has been a 'normal" pain level for me - but the last 4 days or so have been ridiculous. Every night, every time I want to roll over, bend my leg or straighten it I woke up in pain. :(

I think my chickens appreciate the tarp in their house! It has been in the low 20s here with wind chill in the mid-low teens. I do need to put something at their north wall vent up top though, because it still blows in pretty good there. Of course, our temps are supposed to be in the mid-60s next week.
They also LOVE being turned out into the garden, and they are very easy to call back to the yard in the evenings.
I saw a pair of Cooper Hawks today, just a 1/4 mile or so up the road. :somad

Question - If I decide to order some heirloom seeds and try my hand at that , and I know I will also be buyig the regular feedstore plants /seeds.. I need to plant them away from each other correct? As in - heirloom tomatoes in a different lot than the transplants from the feedstore?

Farrier comes tomorrow. I need to contact the foster coordinator for hay and feed for Buddy. I have bought his feed, dewormer and farrier services since the first of December, as well as feeding him my hay. I can't afford to buy more hay and I don't see the point in it if they get it donated and I can have it free. :idunno

Sometimes the cross breeding is a good thing.

If you save seeds from the best of your tomatoes each year and only plant them, you will actually develop a brand of AL tomato! Different from everything else and ideally suited to your particular conditions.

I had a tomato like that for sometime. It started as volunteers and then I started saving seeds. It was bigger than a normal cherry type and YUMMY.

I lost it however, with poor seed saving after a few years. :hit

See somehow I pictured you riding with Gandalf as he topped the ridge at sunrise - riding to save the day! :)
A wizard is never late, Frodo Baggins. Nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to.

I had my ortho appointment this morning and he is ordering an MRI. He had to prescribe some Valium for me because I have recently developed extreme claustrophobia :( .

Farrier coming today, then the afternoon is mine for me to gimp around and work on garden soil. Today is clean the pasture day Woot!

ha! this is one of my fav lines:

"Look to my coming on the first light of the fifth day, at dawn look to the east. "

and fav scenes.... you know it Gandalf leading the charge down the hill!

hee hee hee i love that you thought of that too
:)

sorry about the MRI. around here our joke is to get a 'cat scan' and one of us picks up a cat and holds it over the other person.

ha! we think its hilarious

I love LOTR but my box set was destroyed in storage (pause for a moment of silence). I'll buy another one day.
