If they were in our county there would be no photos of them crossing the road, only hanging from a rafter draining somewhere lol . We are the "redneck riviera" , wild hogs wouldn't stand a chance!

I forgot earlier but seeing it mentioned in pinkfox's journal reminded me - my friend gave me a bunch of asparagus to plant. Doesn't it take a year or 2 to get anything from it? So I should plant it somewhere I won't want to till anytime soon?
Same here. The would be "shot" but not with a camera! Have eaten meat from adult feral pigs and didn't like it. But maybe some baby piggy meat might taste better?

Thanks Deb! Flower beds are on my plans for this year as well.... I am going to put landscape timbers all around my trailer to make beds. The backyard ones I will put hardware cloth down and a temp fence up - then I'll plant clover and chicken friendly stuff in them since whatever is there the chooks get anyway
The front ones I am planting some pixie gardenias (I love gardenias. Coming in on a hot, humid, muggy night when the air is perfectly still - and all you smell is gardenias. ahhhh) and evidently I'll be planting asparagus as well. I think at the east end I am going to plant a fig tree or something both for dog shade and fruit :D

Today has been an exhausting day. I didn't leave work until 2am last night / this morning. Buford had tried to go to his bed in my room and he fell - was laying under my bed barking, drooling and shaking he was so freaked out. I carried him out and we walked until he got his legs back under him. Then I had to find Pat (the bullied hen). I let her out of the pen full of chicks so she could scratch around the yard and didn't put her up before sunset, so she was under some privacy fence panels in a corner of the yard.
I fed the dogs and cuddled my sweet little rabbit then showered and went to bed around 430.
Alarm went off at 8 - fed the chickens and headed out to meet a friend at the gym. After working out I went straight to my counseling appointment. I had a couple of hours between my session and my appointment for my psych eval (for the weight loss surgery) so I cleaned the rabbit cage and took about a half hour nap.

The eval was 370 questions on one of those "color in the bubble" papers. Then also another 100-200 questions on a computer. I was glad when that was over! I go back next week for my results :D

I had to run up to work for a few minutes to turn in info for my yearly review (3 performance awards in a row and this year is gonna reek). After a quick supper I tilled the rest of the garden and got my row ready for tomatoes. I have my lime, epsom salts, crushed oyster shell, crushed egg shell, tomato miracle grow and I am ready to experiment with all of these "sure fired bumper crop" methods of tomato growing. ;) :p

It got dark before I could plant, I am exhausted, sore and sweaty. I am going to bed early tonight! Tomorrow I have the gym, my nephew's baseball game and garden garden garden!!! :woot

it would appear exhaustion is going to be the norm for me for a little while. Buford kept me up almost all night last night - I think his eyelid is curling again.
I finally got to sleep around 530, got up at 8 and went to my youngest nephew's 2 baseball games in the next county. When I got home I went to get horse and chicken feed and some other stuff. After unloading I spent the rest of the afternoon in the garden.

I planted 25 tomato plants of various kinds in various soil amendments. They may all be dead in the morning, but it won't be for lack of effort!
My legs feel like very painful lead weights. Basically gardening is like a workout video - tons of squats, lunges, sidestepping, etc lol.

Fed the horses, showered and made some scrambled eggs. Caught up online with a friend from out of state and now I am going to get some tylenol and go to bed!

I took some flower photos but they'll have to wait ;)

Whew... you've been busy. I love the smell of gardenias. I'm jealous! I've planted two here but they don't make it through the winter and I'm not one to baby house plants. I'm not spending my money on another no matter how much I love the smell!

I have a fig tree and LOVE it! There's not much better than fresh figs and a bit of cheese.

I don't have my gardenias yet. I love them though.
I want to plant my peas, mustard, corn, radish and beans today, but Sunday is my early work day, so I won't have time to get much done. May try to get the mustard in though.
Tomorrow morning early I'll work in the garden but then from 2pm Monday on.. I am running constantly with appoitnments until hopefully Thursday I can work again.
Monday 2pm - counseling appt
work 530p-6a,
take nephews to breakfast and school
10am blah doctor appt
2pm nutritionist appt
430 older nephew's high school game (yes, I suppose this is optional, but it is one of his last games and I am his #1 fan)
Then I can sleep because I am off work. Wednesday I have an 11 dr appt for my knee follow up (doing great, even after gardening!) and at 2pm get the results of my psych eval for the surgery. (scary :D ). Then back to work at 430p-1a

anyway.... here are some spring pics for you folks still in the cold - there is hope!!

I love your American flag!

I need to take ours down. I noticed it got tattered over the winter. It is an all-weather flag but they were not talking about weather like we had. I think I'm supposed to burn it, right? In a respectful manner of course. But this one has a torn strip and does not look repairable at all.

Either burn it, bury it, or take it to the American Legion for proper disposal.

I remember watching a burning one in a ceremony as a girl scout and then studying it a little as a girl scout leader. We layed it over a fire and sang the anthem or something.

We have always hung an American Flag, whereever we lived. After 911 we got more adamant about it though.
