Too bad we can't put the iron tree on one side and drake's wreath on the other. That would be festive!

Drake, I love your wreath! Very pretty!

I love making wreaths also and hope to make some to sell next year. A pretty Christmas wreath just makes one smile and feel good, doesn't it? :)
Thanks Bee. :)

I agree. There is nothing like coming home and seeing your wreath greeting you on the gate. Makes me feel warm & fuzzy inside. LOL

Hi all,

New to this forum. Thought I'd post a pic of what we cast iron nuts do with our Dutch ovens when it's too cold to cook outside (just kidding, it's never too cold to cook in a black pot!).

Got a moment to catch up here. I told my bro-in-law that it was my 'hillbilly tree'. He thought that was funny. I have lights on it now. I was introduced to dutch oven cooking when my sons were in boy scouts. Then, when I had a girl scout troop, I taught the girls how to make brownies in one. I purchased them at a few local stores, ordered some from Amazon (when they have free shipping!) and ordered one from a Sportsmens Warehouse in Arizona (10" deep isn't easy to find). I'm not buying any more, no I'm not. ;)

Is it okay to mention a dutch oven yahoogroup? There are about 3000 of us there with extensive recipe files and advise. As far as cooking eggs in cast iron, I have an old skillet I can scramble eggs in. You need to have a good seasoning in the pot. It should be shiny black. The high heat method works best for me. Making sure the pot is clean and no rust, spread a very thin layer of Crisco inside and out. Place pot in oven and heat to 450. You might want to put a cookie sheet underneath in case of drips. And you sometimes get some smoke doing this (I don't, for some reason). Heat pot for 1 hour and turn off oven. Don't open door and let cool for several hours. Repeat as necessary to get a nice shiny nonstick finish.
