Hey, many voted for change - I don't think they realized what kind of change they were in for.
If no one had had blinders on, right? I for one saw thru his "Change" campaign.

Doesn't it seem a tad early to judge his results? It seems to me that's something to be seen some years down the road.

Anything else, at this point, is still just 'I agree with his policies' or 'I don't', same as during the campaign, same as always.

You know you'd be hearing the same thing from the other side if McCain had won, or whatever your personal fave candidate was :p

Not when he already more than doubled our deficit in just 30 days in office. That is way too much spending. Especialy when he kept railing against Bush for the current deficit during the campaign. It's more than just policy I disagree with him on. But we are not evening getting into that sticky mess.

I'm not sure that's quite fair. My recall of this is that the economy was tanking well before the election. I am really sorry, though, for everybody who is suffering in this depression.
This economic house of cards was doomed to fall ever since 1977, it was only a matter of time. If you'd like to read a good synopsis of the history of it all (this is up to the first TARP bill, much has happened since he hasn't commented on yet), check out this article in Backwoods Home by John Silveira. It's probably the most concise description I've seen yet. This a government mess - and you trust these bozos to get us out of it? I surely don't! That's why I don't want them to get their hands on one more thin dime of my money. I did want hope and change, but I knew it wasn't going to happen, not with the power grip that still holds us all.

Well we're just going to have to wait and see. I'm not an economist, not that it matters. You can ask 10 different economist's what the solution is and you'll get 10 different answers. It would be nice if all the nay sayers would get on board and try to help instead of helping the problem, along. You have people like Rush (who is currently considered to be the head of the Republican party) coming right out and saying he hopes Obama fails. Why does he hope that? If Obamas plan fails we're going to be a lot worse off. Rush doesn't care, he's just upset cause he has to pay more taxes. He has all he food and drugs he needs. He can hire his own army to keep him safe. Obama is trying to help people like you and me. I don't think there's any millionaires on this line. If his stimulus plan actually causes you to lose your job let us know. Be sure your info is valid though. Don't get it from a radio con man.

Listen to his speech before you decide to believe what you've been fed. The lamestream media totally misconstrued Rush's comments - I don't blame you if all you listened to was the nightly news. If you saw the whole speech and understood what he was saying you'd realize that he is totally against Obama's main premise, that of huge, nanny state government cradling you from birth to grave while eliminating the economic stimulus to actually succeed. It is just a continuation of the 'no one fails' policy the left has been pushing for years now. Well, they've worked their way up to the top, and I don't know about you, but I see all the 'self esteem' and no one losing creating a whole nation of crybabies feeling their entitled to this and their entitled to that. I'm in full agreement with Rush (for once, that doesn't happen all the time).

I guess I don't see how losing one's job, house and healthcare, and then wanting unemployment to feed one's family until one can find a job again is "entitlement." To me, that's the basics. Sure, lots of folks bought way more home and spent way more money than they needed. I'm talking about the ones who are working, but their company collapsed, their housing market collapsed, their banking system collapsed, and they NEED some help to stay alive. Are you saying you don't want extension of unemployment and health coverage for these folks? You want them to sink? Which would be what....starving?

Were those in the Great Depression a bunch of crybabies, too? I guess I don't see how all this venom is helpful. There's a really big mess in this country. We could argue for months on who caused it and when it started. We could argue for years on how it should be fixed. But, it's here. I, for one, want to get back to the business of being even more self sufficient and trying to figure out ways to help those around me who could use a little extra help. After all, if this had happened 10 years ago when I didn't have my own land, access to Internet and the greater knowledge base and savings I have now, I would be the one who would have been needing the help...

I for one am worried. Then we have all these yahoos with nothing to lose inciting those that have a lot to lose. Rush is just an entertainer. He's been spouting nonsense for years. I'm just glad he represents the minority. The republican party needs to change direction. I sure hope that's not the direction they're headed. I've listened to Rush before. I know what kind of hate he spews.

I love that word "spew." It so perfectly describes talk show hosts who rant and rave and "spew" hateful venom. I don't listen to those kinds of shows, including those on the left. I don't care if I agree with everything they say, when it is so one-sided, hateful, caustic, and hyper, it's really not helpful. I'd much rather listen to things I disagree with, as long as I'm hearing both sides speaking in an adult, respectful manner. I think when people are so obviously disrespectful of other views, they turn people off so badly that they are not even able to get their views across to the very people they are sharing them with. But, a little calmness and respect, and who knows how many people you could get to listen?

Heading calmly and respectfully back off my soapbox :D

Who said it was?

No, I'm not saying that at all, never once did I even insinuate it. But I am talking about people who bought above their means, and now expect you and me to pay to bail them out. I have no sympathy for those who charge everything just to have 'stuff', buy a home that's way over their budget, etc. The injustices some suffer have nothing to do with the immature decisions of so many.

I cannot have a discussion with someone who puts words into my mouth. I also see that we have a fundamental difference that falls across the liberal/conservative lines. You see only victims. I see a lack of personal responsibility on many people's parts. Of course there are those who are truly in need, but I think they are far outnumbered by people who have given little thought to the next day, never mind the next year - or the rest of their lives. I know more of that type than of the true victim.
