What a valuable class! I would feel much more confident about doing that after being instructed on how to do it properly and seeing the set up required!
:thumbsup

By the way, I'm really enjoying the Good neighbors. I'm about 3/4 of the way through!

what an awesome idea and sounds like a great day...

i want to be able to eventually butcher process any animal i need to, but the larger animals like pigs i find a little intimidating being id be doing it on my own in most likley circumstances.

id love a class/instructional like that where i could see it all done in person!

i mean rabbit, chicken, quail, turkey ect is "nothing" compared to a couple hundred pound pig

So I've been busy with:
travel
food poisoning (from a restaurant)
cleaning up the house
getting the garden providing more stuff
putting up more stuff
making all our bread
making homemade pasta (including rigatoni and spaghetti)
making sauerkraut and homemade butter
and just doing more householding stuff.
and reading a lot.

the chickens are doing great - Buffy's 3 babies are growing by the day it seems.

Yeah - it was pretty awful. I ate at a restaurant I've eaten at a dozen times before. 2 hours later I was barfing so violently I was worried I was going to through my back out. After the 5th "session", I dialed 911 on my cellphone, handed it to DS and went back to barfing. By then, I wasn't sure how far down I was gonna go and wanted to make sure I got help before I got too far gone. After the IV and the meds for both ends, I went home. Was on meds for about a week before I could get through a day without them, and felt awful for about another week after that.

NOT fun.

I saw a friend go through that and can just imagine. Sorry you had to go through that. Did you tell the restaurant?

I need to mail you back your videos, I've enjoyed them very much. Great for cheering me up!

Ugh. Glad you got to the hospital though. The last time I was sick sick, I should have and didn't because I was broke and already missing work and it took FOREVER to get really better again.

Just a quick update:

Picked up a bunch of onions, carrots and celery cheap at costco and will process those this week for the freezer.

Plan to pull out all the pasta sauces I have in the freezer and can them so I am able to see at a glance what I have.

Picked up a new shelving unit for my canned jars on a 'we pay the sales tax' sale at the local hardware store.

Picked up a bunch of mulch and plants for the front yard - ripping out the lawn finally (after almost a year) and replacing it with natives and mulch. (And will probably add some more planting beds later this fall for winter crops.)

And getting ready to leave in 2 weeks for Italy. We'll be gone for 3 weeks. Conference, visiting DH's family, taking a cooking class, and then touring Genova and NW regions I've not seen before.

The chickens are doing great - Mama Buffy is still being a great mama with her three peeps. And I'm regularly getting 4 eggs a day or more from my layers.

Did a couple of stocking runs for olive oil at the farmers market and miscellaneous stuff that was on coupon at costco (waters, toilet paper, etc) but won't be buying much else other than milk and halfnhalf the rest of this month, I hope. Maybe some pepperoni for DS to make calzones for while we're gone.

Have fun in Italy!

I've always wanted to go and see some of their gold leafing studios for picture frames.
